Graves' Disease Support Group
Graves-Basedow disease is a medical disorder that may manifest several different conditions including hyperthyroidism (over activity of thyroid hormone production), infiltrative exophthalmos (protruberance of one or both eyes and associated problems) and infiltrative dermopathy (a skin condition usually of the lower extremities). This disorder is the most common cause of...
Not really. Not while thyroid levels are fluctuating and are likely not in the 'right' places. I look forward to getting my FT3 and FT4 back to what is normal for me soon now that I have lowered the MMI from 1.875 mg to 1.25 mg once daily.

Lol. Wow, I am not sure if I have the right shaped head for being bald. Being that my brain is not on the sharp side, lately, can you explain to me why the T3 and T4 have to be in the upper third range (or something like that) for you to be in a good place? Is this supposed to be different for everyone. Because we are all like snowflakes - individually different.
Thank you, sweetie. :-)
For the majority of the people who have GD, they find that their FT3 needs to be at mid range and the FT4 at the upper third ranges just to not have many of those symptoms described as hypER and hypO.
Granted we did have a handful of people coming through the forums who did best with their FT4 just outside the high end range and some with just below mid range.
What I use for the levels are for the majority. People will then go from there and adjust their meds or diets to aim for getting their Free Ts to where they feel their best there at.

I don't like it either when it happens, but I do what I can and keep my hair a bit shorter at just above or at shoulder length as not to weigh down too heavily.
I also use organic products to avoid the SLS, citric acid and also methylisothiazolinone (or MIT).
I recall back a few years ago I was pretty sick on two different occasions that caused my Free Ts to drop, especially that of the FT3, and my hair came out in big gobs. It was like that for the next few months. So I used the shampoos/conditioners which had the least amount of ingredients and only either as organic or non-GMO to keep as balanced as possible.
I also had to deal with additional mineral deficiencies and had to supplement.
I am all natural with that I do not color nor bleach my hair. I am unable to tolerate the typical store brought shampoos and conditioners as all these tend to make my MCS (multiple chemical sensitivities) react.

Thank you for the support. I, too, do not bleach, color or straighten my hair. I rarely blow dry it. I try to wash it ONLY once a week, if not longer. I stay away from the regular shampoos and conditioners. Because of 2 car accidents with neck injuries, I do not like going to salons to have my hair washed or cut. I wind up trimming my own hair and putting it into a ponytail. The top I lightly twist and clip to the top. I don’t like hair in my face. I am usually getting dirty doing something (like yard work) and prefer that my hair doesn’t cover my eyes or get in my mouth,
You know, it’s funny, my mom (may she Rest In Peace) was from a generation that dyed their hair. And, I always got flack for allowing my grey to grow out. After reading up that the red dye in her hair dye could be carcinogenic.....it only goes to show you that sometimes vanity can be unhealthy.

I can't tolerate Evening Prmrose oil, or Black Currant oil or Borage as all three makes me feel a bit hypER.
I do consume a wild alaskan Salmon oil and have no problem with it.
