I have heard that alot of diet pills or anything that excelerates the metabolisom can cause thyroid problems ..When I was in my 20's I took stakers (not to loose weight but to give me energy) and I can remember back a few times were my heart had raced like crazy n i would get so hot & lightheaded i would feel as if i was gonna pass out 2X my friend was gona take me to the ER over it ..i stopped taking them after the 2X i had expericed this. What i did hear helps naturally aid w/ a diet is Green Tea & it also has alot of antioxidents in it ( i would go w/ decafe) Before u take anything tho i would discuss it w/ ur Endo ..Good Luck

PS when my accupuncturist wanted to sell me herbs i made her translate what the ingredients were into english. Alot of their herbs contain sea based products such as kelp and seaweed so I would def be wary

I don't take any weight loss products or seaweed supplements either. I never have and I never will! I only know that when one has a thyroid problem whether hypO or hypER, weight is an issue. For many people, it's when getting the thyroid levels at the right places, the Free T3 and the Free T4, that the weight will be easier to deal with.

I too have read horror stories and recent findings about over the counter weight loss pills causing problems.
I would never take a chance with these snake oil remedies. If you notice, most of them say to take along with proper diet and exercise.... which means you would have the same results without the pills.
Some of the fat burner med's have toxins that can cause an array of side effects.
Bottom line.......THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A QUICK WEIGHTLOSS PILL OR MIRACLE PILL.
We all need to be smart and take the healthy approach by combining healthy diet and exercise. Talk to your doctor, seek advice from a nutritionist. Do not take over the counter diet pills or you could do more damage than good.

I agree with the girls. Even though I think I am in remission (if you can use this word for post-RAI people), that is, nothing bothers me in a diet and I don't restrict myself in eating anything (salt of course within reason) - yet I steer clear of any diet pills, mainly because I don't know what is in them. Chinese/Japanese pills would raise my concern 10 times higher because we have no idea of their plants and how foreign plant may affect our Western souls :)

My weight.... Exersise and calorie restriction is the only way out for me.

I agree with the others to a degree. Ive read some of Elaine Moores articles on using herbs and did some research into that. I feel the ones she recommends have validity. I am very wary of buying products that sell an outcome. There business depends on sales and that's the motive behind there promotion. For loosing weight..diet and exercises still is the best.

Thank you all for your input. I think I have decided not to try it. I think its just too risky.
