These are my results from last week. My FT4 is a bit high but I am quite optimistic about the outcome.

FT4 22.6 range has changed from 7.5 -21.5 to 9.0- 23.0 so I am still in range!!

FT3 3.7 range 3.5 - 6.5

TSH 0.14 range 0.2 - 4.0 ( first time in 2 years that I have had any that wasnt drug induced)

I have been feeling great except for the burning itchy feet sometimes. I see the surgeon today so I hope he will have an answer for this.

Woo Hoo!!!! That is awesome new Malbers. Im so happy for you. Do you think your endo will reduce your Synthroid because of your high FT4? Just curious, Im not sure how it works when your on hormone replacement. But it would make sense to me if he did. Big Hugs coming your way...Kathy

It's still pretty early to see any real changes maybe. But your FT3 is down quite a bit,compared to FT4,ask him why if you can.

So I just returned from the surgeon and the pathology results were in. My thyroid has cancer!! I wasnt told what kind. I cant stop bawling. I am awaiting a call from the cross cancer institute. Most likely I will have to have RAI right of way which is a real downer!! The whole reason I had a TT was to avoid RAI.I never had an uptake test only an ultra sound but it wasnt found. The positive side of this is that if I didnt insist on a TT as quickly as I did I would still be walking around with a cancerous thyroid. :(

Ahhh crap Malbers...Im sooooo sorry. This really sucks! But, this is one of those times where RAI plays a very important role. I know this is not the route you wanted to go in but it will kill the cancer. Big Hugs Malbers...you will get through this...Kathy

I am so sorry to hear this.
You still won't have the long die off that RAI is notorious for since you did have your thyroid removed. Also, I read that Thyroid cancer is very curable and very slow growing. I think some people have had TT found out it was cancerous and did not have to go on to RAI because it was all removed with the TT.

I am sure there is some test to prove if all the cancer was gotten out with the TT. Check in to this.

Oh hon,I'm so sorry about this, but I think it can be fairly common it seems. They don't know till they take it out and then they find it.Did you have nodules all along? You have to see what they say but it is so curable don't even worry about THAT! It was supposed to happen like this, you would have never known if you didn't opt for the TT. It sucks big time anyway,a big hug for you and some prayers Marci.

I'm due to see my surgeon on 28th Got the call after my TT to say the path tests are back and he wants to see me
I feel completely GR8 since the op but now I'm shitting myself about the results
WHY DOESN'T THIS THING EVER JUST LEAVE ME ALONE
PLEASE let me know how you get on as I could be following close behind

Im so sorry about your diagnosis. its really tough, but try to keep positive - ive cared for lots of patients with thyroid cancer and it has a good prognosis. rai may not be your prefered route, but it does kill the cancer. also, im sure youre already doing this, but make sure you have your calcium levels checked. take care, big hugs. xxxx

Claire, I am so sorry that you are sitting in limbo not knowing!! It is really scary. I may not need any other treatment, so if thats the case he should have kept it to himself!! I would rather not know. If it was serious or was needing anything else done I would have assumed that the cancer institute would have already been in touch with me. It has been 64 days since surgery which is plenty of time to book RAI. At least for the first 7 weeks I didnt know and didnt worry.

I have been doing alot of research on THYCA and it is the most common, slowest growing, easiest to treat and most curable of all cancers. The surgeon said upto 7 in 10 will get it at some time in their lives, most not knowing and showing no signs.

Thank you everyone for you concern I am sure everything will be just fine. I beleive that the reason that I could not get stable on ATDs was my bodies way of alerting me of a more serious issue!!! If I had stabilized I would be walking around with cancer!! So thats why I instanly felt better in the O.R and why I never felt so right about doing something in my life. I am still feeling amazing and have added a B complex which has returned my feet to normal, no more itching and burning, YAY!!!
