In my opinion that would be to large of a change...what were your last labs?

I left the lab slip on my husbands truck but the t3 & t4 were good they were dosing me on my TSH. I'm so darn tired of my legs killing me. Went to medical doctor and they ran blood test and couldn't find a reason. Said it was my medicine.

Yeah it probably IS your medicine, it's too much. After almost a year on meds you should be on less than 15. if you get the exact numbers we could tell how low you are but don't cut down to 2.5 from 15, that's too much of a drop maybe. Did you ever try 5 and feel better on it, I thought you did awhile ago? Did your Free t's go hyper again on that dose or was it on a lower dose?

My free t's were good but my TSH they said were heading toward hyper. Now I don't get that one.

If it were me, I would get hard copies of my labs to know exactly what my Free Ts were doing (forget the TSH as this is being effected by thyroid antibodies).

The usual practice is to reduce the ATD by half of the current amount one is on. If the current dose is 15 mg, then reduce to 7.5 mg and then retest labs in four weeks to see if on track with things.

I was on PTU and when I reduced I went by 25 mg at a time...I think I was overly cautious though. But...slow and steady wins the Graves race. So...I would probably reduce by 5mg just to be on the safe side...Big Hugs...Kathy

I think at one point you might have reduced to 2.5 or something/ that might be reflecting in the tsh they are looking at and saying your heading hyper. I doubt it. If you get the numbers go on Elaine's site and post them in her forum. Only she will answer you and give you info on why they should be dosing by your frees, not tsh. Docs get really hung up on this but if they do, they are antiquated in their thinking usually,
