Hi cc9393...Im sorry you didnt get the results you were hoping for. Disappointment really sucks. But it is a good thing that your eyes are looking better. When the swelling goes down they could very well go back into place. I saw my Opth today as well and he told me the same thing. Since I reduced my meds my eyes have receded further and my pressures are 15 and 15. That is very good news. My eyes could very well go back into place. Dblvsn has had 3 decompression surgeries and has just recently had surgery to re place his eyes. You may want to message him to find out what it was like for him. He has very helpful information. Well, I have to say... Im sorry and happy for you. As far as the botox goes, Im looking into that myself but havnt done it...yet...Kathy

I had the decompression surgery. I never took meds for my eyes before surgery, but I wore prisms for about 6 months before my eyes settled enough to have the surgery. I went in the morning and was home by late afternoon. My eyes were swollen and Black and blue. I couldn't see for about a day. I was pretty drugged up and didn't start feeling pain for a day. I had pain killers and an ointment for my eyes. Within two weeks the swelling was gone and the black eyes. I only wear reading glasses now (it's been 3 yrs.) But I am just starting to look normal. My eyes still itch and water. They still get swollen, but I do feel a lot better. Everyone is different. I just started wearing a little make up recently because of eyes watering. I go next month to see if I will be having another eye operation.

cc9393 I thought you already had surgery around February while on a two week break? I even sent you a PM to see how you were doing but you did not reply. Am I crazy or is this deja vu all over again?

Dblvsn, back in feb(Cant remember exactly when) I was told by my doc that it looked like I was in remission but I had to wean off the steroids and my doc said I could have the surgery in June. I was sooo excited then. Unfortunately he changed his mind and wants to wait 3 more months. sorry if you misunderstood :( I appreciate your concern and I am sorry I did not respond to your previous post..I must have overlooked it by mistake. School has me a little goofy in the head lately.

I'm sorry for any misunderstanding cc9393 I know you post here a lot, and I must have confused you with someone else. I think I rushed or was rushed a little with my first decompression surgery so i think it's a good idea that you're waiting. Like Marpo, I couldn't see the first day, I got really black & blue a couple days later, but within two weeks I was 99% healed. Having an Ophthalmologist who also does plastic surgery is a big plus, if you have any bags under you eyes or problems with your upper or lower eye lids.

I am newly diagnosed with Graves so I dont really know anything about decompression surgery however in my office we do a lot of botox. I get botox every 4 months. Its painless and it causes the muscle inbetween the eyes to no longer to move causing that angry look. The more you cant use it, the less of a deep crease you can create. That area is called the Glabella.... The best person to seek to get botox is a Dermatologist because they do a lot of it frequently and it is more cost effective than going to a plastic surgeon. I would not trust any other type of Doctor that offers botox the reason being is that The more you do it the better you are at it and well frankly Dermatologists perform botox pretty much Daily. I love my botox, getting it makes me feel like myself, its the one thing I can control with all that is going on with my appearance I can at least make sure I dont look mad all the time.

I would ask how often they perform botox....ANd ask how much PER UNIT the botox costs... Anyone who charges over $15 a unit is ripping you off...and anyone who charges you under $12 a unit is inexperienced and they are charging less because they are trying to bring in business...

The average cost of botox per unit is $15 that is the going rate for plastic surgeons and dermatologists who use botox on a daily basis..

The Unit is how much botox you are using per injection ..The Glabella on average uses 20-25 units for a female and 25-35 units for a male..

So you really want someone who is in the middle of the road in cost $15 because that shows they are not over charging to just make money... and they are not under charging just to draw in business to get experience.
