Craving carbs can't stop

Iv gained 20+ lbs this past yr since starting meds methimazole. When I'm more hypo I really crave carbs, don't feel filled unless I eat them. I have gained 20+ lbs and feel puffy. When the meds were lesssend I felt less puffy but can't loose the weight. Don't have the drive to exercise. I did several weeks of healthy eating low carb 1200 calarie diet and weight didnt budge. Now winter is coming and now I'm doomed;(

So your FT4 was VERY low, and you only had a tiny dose reduction. Now your STILL waiting for labs in November ?

You need a better system. Labs not so far apart.

You can have labs between doctor appointments and the doctor can call on the phone with the new dose you need. Make sure they alawys mail copies of the lab results to you too.

Pam is right. Even though you may be within your ranges it may still not be a good place for you. Our docs like to keep us on the lower end of the ranges because they think lower is better than higher...for safety reasons. They think hypo is better than hyper. For me...I need to be on the higher end of my ranges to feel well. If I get to low I feel horrible. I feel sluggish and I gain weight like crazy. You can see my weight gain and hair loss on my TED pics that I posted on my profile page. Once my levels got to a good place for me...I dropped the weight and my hair grew back. Its all about your levels. Until you stabilize and find your good place in your ranges...its wise to lab at least every 6 weeks. I didn mine every 4 weeks. This gives you the information you need to adjust your meds and stay stable... Big Hugs...Kathy
