Hello,and I'm sorry you have this but my daughter found out she has it after just casually mentioning it to her Gp. She's 33. She had an endoscopy and she had a mild case although she still has to avoid gluten. At first it was hard to figure out what to eat but she kept it pretty simple. Meat,potatoes,rice, vegatables and fruit. She never was a BIG pasta or bread eater but it's still was hard to find a pasta she liked and a bread. The bread IS expensive, she likes Udi's the best.For pasta, she likes Schar and Lundberg's. l think it's called. She has been gluten free for about 2 and a half years. Please make sure you read labels,go see a nutritionist and they will give you a list of what to avoid. It's mostly wheat,rye and barley. Her antibodies went down to normal after about 6 months. She only had some bloating and constipation with it so she didn't have a bad case of it. The thing is once you get the gluten out, you'll know if you ingest it.this happened to her just last week. She mistakenly bought a loaf of Rudi's bread which she thought was ONLY gluten free but it's not. She ate a bun and got really sick. She was at work and had to leave. Her hubby read the label and found out it was whole wheat! She hasn't had that in all this time. She's learned her lesson to read all labels and not take anything for granted.She feels good,make sure you get your vitamin levels and iron checked because these can be low with this due to malabsorbtion.
They make SO much food now that's gluten free and for the most part, you can still have most chocolate! You just have to be sure to become familiar with the labeling. They say that gluten and thyroid disease can be closely linked, it's too bad we could just stop eating something to bring our thyroid antibodies down,I would do it. Don't be sad, it's something that can be totally controlled with diet and if you have symptoms, those will be gone. people were up the creek years ago if they were diagnosed because they had next to nothing to choose from. They say millions are walking around with it and are either mis-diagnosed with irritable bowel or just don't even know they have it.

Thank you so much!! This was very helpful. I have heard that thyroid issues and gluten are pretty related. I am going to get the endoscopy soon to make sure I have it. The doctor said there is a less than 1% chance that I do, but it's still possible!

Yes my daughter's antibodies were high too but her small intestine was very mildly "celiac looking" high antibodies don't mean you have a bad case of it.
