Graves' Disease Support Group
Graves-Basedow disease is a medical disorder that may manifest several different conditions including hyperthyroidism (over activity of thyroid hormone production), infiltrative exophthalmos (protruberance of one or both eyes and associated problems) and infiltrative dermopathy (a skin condition usually of the lower extremities). This disorder is the most common cause of...

I am sorry you are having issues. It would be a good idea to be more proactive with one's health and the thyroid to know where at with the labs each time along with the meds taken to keep things as balanced as possible.
Another thing to do is what is going on with one's diet and the products used in the household and personal. All these have an impact on health. The key is organic, non-GMO, and avoiding and much chemicals, toxins, and preservatives to do better.
Especially with knowing what one's labs are every time it is being done to aim for keeping the Free T3 at mid range and the Free T4 at the mid to the upper third range would be ideal.
There is a connection between Fibromyalgia and thyroid levels. Please research this:

I have issues with Fibromyalgia as well as Rheumatoid Arthritis. I work to keep my FT3 at mid range and the FT4 at the upper third range as not to feel horrible. Otherwise I get more pains in the muscles and joints if my Free Ts are too low.

What about the TPOab and the TgAb to check for Hashimoto's Thyroiditis a mostly hypO condition?
Depending on what is going on with the these antibodies and which is dominant can make things difficult with having FMS. I did a lot of research on this to understand the connection between thyroid levels and FMS.
How long have you been on Methimazole? When were you diagnosed? PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE get ALL your blood test reports since the start of all this and share the numbers here. YOU have the legal right to ask for copies of all your blood test reports. There is a possibility that you are taking too much. Did you get a TRAb and TSI blood test? They are the Graves Disease antibodies. Also, taking pregnisone can be hard on your body. You need to be careful taking that drug. Have you visited the Fibromyalgia forum here? I don’t know much about it and THAT would be the place to get answers. I don’t know much about GD Eye problems but if you created a separate title for Graves Disease Eye problems and ask what other people do about it (and not go on and on about everything under the sun) you will get some good information that people will share with you. Get your numbers before you come back - so we can see where you are with this. Take Care.
The eye drops that is being talked about is to reduce any eye swelling from the thyroid issues. Since Graves' eye issues are likely from high positive thyroid antibodies.
If the numbers can be posted along with the lab reference ranges for each of those tests, we can better comment.

So, you are VERY new to this. Okay, I’ll let you in on something......it takes approximately 5 weeks for the medications to kick in. And, you will feel better. Much better. If your numbers aren’t moving and you are encountering more HYPER symptoms, then your doctor will increase the dosage, IF you are having heart palpitations, then the doctor will give you a pill for that. IF your T.S.H. numbers are out of range and much higher, then you are pushing towards HYPO. This means that the MMI (Methimazole) is working very quickly. If your FREE T3 & FREE T4 is going into normal range. That’s a good thing! ALL the things you do, eat and apply to your body will make all the difference. When you go to the doctor, ask for a copy of the last blood tests and a copy of the new blood tests. Keep all this paperwork together so you can compare. Did any of the doctors ask you to do a radioactive uptake & scan? That was the test I took to confirm Graves Disease. BUT, but, I was told that it wasn’t necessary to confirm GD. Did the doctors give you 3 choices? MMI, RAI or surgery - the conventional doctors do. You said your dad has thyroid problems. My father had RAI for his GD 30 years ago. A family member with the disease confirms what they say about getting it. A family member has it, girls around the age when they get their cycle and women who are around menopause. Much more women get it over men. Does your father have Graves Disease? When I take the MMI, I sometimes get itchy. I have the diarrhea, too. If you feel dehydrated, drink coconut water. Stay away from sugars - they will give you hot flashes. I hope some of this information was helpful. Don’t forget the blood test reports. Take Care.
I only say this to you with respect....is english your second language? When you write about what is going on with you, you are all over the place. It is quite confusing.
Let’s try to simplify what you have and what you need to do. Make sure your doctor (It should be an endocrinologist) does the correct tests to diagnose your condition. Free T3, Free T4, T.S.H., TSI, TRAb - these are the most important ones. Get copies of your blood test reports. You cannot be diagnosed with Graves Disease unless your antibodies show you have this auto-immune disease. You can have Hyperthyroidism but you might not know what caused it. Graves Disease is NOT a virus. You might not know this but you need to be VERY careful if you undergo surgery for the Hysterectomy. Going under anesthesia could mess with your Graves Disease. Just in case your doctor didn’t know that. Also, you are dealing with issues with your thyroid hormones. Do you think that getting a hysterectomy, at this time, will have an influence on your estrogen hormones. BE VERY CAREFUL! With all these hormones not in balance, you might be aggravating the situation. Deal with one thing at a time. Get a “confirmed” diagnosis of your hyperthyroid condition through those blood tests and an ultrasound from an endocrinologist. If your heart is beating fast or palpitating, the doctor recommends a Beta Blocker. Do you have a palpitating heart? Do you smoke? If you do, STOP! It aggravates the eye issues with Graves Disease. CHANGE your diet so you eat “clean” organic, hormone/antibiotic free meats and foods, Non GMO foods. Make sure you get enough protein, as one loses muscle tone with GD. And, do yourself a favor, walk away from the drama of your family - it’s not doing you any good and as I read your comment, it IS stressing you out. Since your eyes are bothering you a lot - see a eye doctor who specializes in Graves Disease. And lastly, cut out salt from your diet - salt is no good for your condition! (That means canned food, processed food, seafoods, like shrimp) You want to make these symptoms go away - be careful of what you eat. I hope I wasn’t too rough talking to you. Stop the drama and take care of yourself. Be Well.
I am still cycling at the age of 55. So when I am approaching to the start of my next cycle, I do notice the increase in wanting sweets and chocolates. I consume one small peppermint patty from an organic brand called Heavenly Organics which uses raw organic honey in place of sugar and organic dark chocolate. It has only three ingredients in it, the organic raw white honey, unsweetened organic dark chocolate and natural peppermint oil.
I only shop for organic and non-GMO products in everything. If I get any processed packaged food items to consume, I pick up and read the back or the sides of the labels as well as checking the front for the USDA organic seal and non-GMO verified seal before I will think about buying the items.
I also check with the processed food companies websites for additional information on their products as well as reading people's reviews - both positive and negative feedback.
Otherwise whole foods (made from scratch organic and non-GMO) are being prepared to consume.
