Getting my labs done they are pretty sure I'm hyper again. Told me in three months I have to decide on surgery or radiation, I. A small dose. Said I had been on meds to long and could damage my liver ans kidneys. Gonna do a scan then and decide. Guess labs will follow next week.

Praying for you Snippy that you make an informed decision that is best for you. Just my 2 cents worth, since you've been all over the map with drs and med dosage - maybe with regular, steady meds at the right level for you, remission is possible - perhaps they will give you time to try it and see what happens - you haven't been on the meds any longer then I have if I recall. Be sure to post your labs with ranges and I know the ladies here will be most helpful. I'm praying they give you the time you need to heal your system. Huge Huggs!!! Cindee

I don't know anymore cindeh, I did what i thought was right i lowered my meds and did really well till this past week, now my hair is breaking, my hands shake and there has been no more sleep for the last four nights . I have been on methimazole, it will be teo years in March. I saw the intern today and the head endo idiot:-) and he said that the meds were going to hurt my liver and all that other bull. I shoild have the lad results between now and next week and will post then =. For now I'm gonna try and grab a nap and forget it all, I have three months to decide.

If you are hyper on 5 why couldn't they try 7.5 or 10 again? Some people have to be on meds at least 3 years or more. if it' not even 2, they are not telling you the truth.As far as hurting your liver not at these doses. Please ask Elaine what she thinks. Give her some history and some labs They are just scared of hyper people. So many have worse trouble after RAI, especially if they keep you hypo. I'm so sorry Snippy. I know you didn't/don't want to do the RAI. The more I read, the more I agree with your doubt, but I don't have any medical degrees and don't know about what doses of things can hurt your liver or kidneys. I think it could also be an individual thing, so maybe some people can take a certain dose for a certain time and others cannot.

The labs should show liver performance though, so perhaps that will help you decide.

Good luck! Your BP is the same as mine is. This is only borderline hypertensive according to my dr. I am not Graves (that I'm aware of), so maybe that is different, too.

It took me a lot of trial and error (along with Elaine helping me) from the beginning before I finally began figuring things out myself in learning how to read labs and how I was feeling thyroid-wise in ordering to learn how to dose my meds.

Both my holistic doctor and endo know I understand on how to do these things. They check with me at every appointment and ask what my current ATD dose is at according to my labs.

Definitely do talk with Elaine. I do not know what I would have done back then if she wasn't around to help me.

It is a skill to learn how to read labs and to be dosed properly which we all tell the people here to be proactive on doing this. I know you are trying your best to do this as well.
