I'm not a member of this group but just happened to see your posts down at the bottom in the "posts you may be interested in" section.
From about 7 years ago to 4 years ago my Graves' Disease was full swing. Then 4 years ago it went into remission for the most part. My endo says it's most likely from my body killing off most of my thyroid. About once every 3-4 months I have the whacked out feeling + anxiety side effects for a day or so but they go away. I can tell you remission is possible as I'm currently in it. Right now I go to the endo every 6 months so they can draw blood and do an ultrasound of my thyroid.
I wish I could give you some advice on the methamazole but by the time I was fully diagnosed my body had done most of the work of killing off my thyroid to normalize things. (I was on Welbutrin + Zoloft daily and Ativan as needed). For almost all of the time I was experiencing things I was diagnosed as General Anxiety Disorder.
I can tell you the anxiety was crippling for me most of the time. As a baseline I shot for a 6/10 on the jitter scale as livable. I could have been OK with the anxiety if there would have been crazy thoughts to go with them I could work on, but nope, just sitting around and doing nothing and all of a sudden full on panic attack.
I would advise staying off of the Ativan if at all possible. They are SUPER addictive and only meant to be taken in short bursts.
I'll try and follow some posts here and give any advice that I can. Just know that I am so sorry you're going through all of this, I really hope that the medicine can help you long term. I'll be praying for peace and strength for you in the future.
