Graves' Disease Support Group
Graves-Basedow disease is a medical disorder that may manifest several different conditions including hyperthyroidism (over activity of thyroid hormone production), infiltrative exophthalmos (protruberance of one or both eyes and associated problems) and infiltrative dermopathy (a skin condition usually of the lower extremities). This disorder is the most common cause of...
Hope you feel better soon!
I do know that I was getting very tired in the morning taking the 5mg in the morning. It seems to hit at the same time every morning. 9:00 - 9:30.
Maybe just overly worse today and it made me a bit 'nutty'.
This is new to me so I'm still adjusting to what I am dealing with.
Thanks for your answer! I'm reading and re-reading these posts and do find myself having many of the same issues.
It gets a bit overwhelming at times!!
Marsha
I would really consider cutting out all junk food altogether. We have some excellent threads going right now about diet. Splitting your med doses can only help you feel better...unless your under/over medicated. Big Hugs...Kathy
Here are latest labs (I checked the T3Free box on my own)
TSH .007 range is.450-4.50
AST 13 range 0-40
ALT 11 range 0-40
T3 152 range 71-180
T3 Free 4.0 range 2.0 - 4.4
T4 Free (Thyroxine) 1.18 range .082 - 1.77
That was from mid-June. I'm having next lab the 7/6 and will post those.
I do have problems falling asleep at night. Funny thing is I can come home from work and fall asleep with no problem.
I'll try harder with the junk food. I was living on chips and chocolate during the day for a few months before diagnosed. Lost weight on that diet!
I have had panic attacks since my early 30's that scared the crap out of me. My family doctor said it was all in my head. Nice.
Slipped on ice and broke my femur on 2/2/2010. Heart rate went up past 150 after that. Prior to surgery, the hospital did heart echo and stress test. Heart is fine and that's when they ordered the thyroid blood work. I had a hard time comprehending Hyperthyroidism/Graves.
For 8-10 months before breaking my leg, I was having very high heart rates and things just didn't feel right. I'm very glad to know it's 'something' and not in my head!
Thanks again.
Marsha
I just don't understand the 3 and 4 numbers and what they do. Also the TSH at .007. My daughter talked with another Endo at a friend's house and told her about what I was going through. Her answer was RAI. She's younger than my Endo, who she knows, and called him weird. Yes, he's odd but he's leaning towards RAI as well. I'm 58 and it seems the symptoms have gotten more pronounced since menopause a few years ago. By the way, menopause was wonderful! No more periods!! As I posted before, I had panic attacks in my 30's and my doctor said it was in my head. Grrr.
I do understand that diet can affect the way I feel. After the way I felt today, I don't want to eat anything again. You know? Sorry! I need to whine a bit. I'm tired of thinking that each thing I eat will cause heart palps and feeling 'out there'.
Sorry again, I've been dealing with a lot lately. I know stress can cause quite a lot of strange feelings. I know that I cry at the drop of a hat. I have always been one to cry when I'm mad or happy!
Thanks so much for answering me!
Marsha
ACK!! I'm so confused!!!
I'm trying to read as much as I can to get on the right page! Every time something odd happens I kind of freak out.
I cut out black high test coffee and only drink black de-caf now. I knew that would affect me as I could have gone through an entire pot.
I'm going either today or tomorrow for bloodwork and should have results by the end of the week.
I will post those again to compare.
Thanks again
Marsha
Gee, I don't feel old!! I'm having bloodwork tomorrow and will post this. I'm trying to educate myself before calling my Endo in August.
(Wish I could have a month vacation!)
Maybe I'm looking at the size of that little pill wondering how 1/2 a pill could be over-medicating. I guess I just don't understand the power in that little pill.
Thanks to you and everyone for your help.
Marsha
I just started all this stuff in February.
What a ride!
