Yes, I have always experienced dealing with the sickness. In fact, we are just getting over the crud from my gd bringing it home from school. It never ceases to amaze me that parents will send their kids to school/daycare while they are sick to pass their precious illnesses along to others. What I don't understand is do these parents think that their kids are the only ones who will be sick? What about those of us who have gk's who risk being in the hospital from the parents who send their kids to school sick? It infuriates me to no end. For example, one of my gk's has asthma and so do I, which means that the littlest infection can send us to the hosp at any given time.
As far as whooping cough, I don't know anything about it, but there are several people, another gs of mine as well, who have ended up in the hosp for croup. That is going around in my area really bad.
Around here, docs say its really not a bad thing for the kids to be exposed to sickness because that evidently boosts their immune system. I understand them saying this, but do we all have to pay the price as well? Good luck and keep us posted
Now I make everyone change out of school clothes and put on play clothes and wash their hands as soon as they get home from school and I have noticed that they do not sick quite as often. Like gamma one of my twins and myself have asthma and any little respiratory thing can do us in.
Babies can die from it and it takes a long time to get over. I work for the School District and all the kids are suppose to get their shots or they can't go to school,
It is worse than Croup, I remember my son getting croup when he was young and had to be in the hospital that was scarey, too.
The State Day Care that my GS goes to has a lot of families who are from other countries and they bring illness back & forth when they travel.
I was lucky that I found out my GS had the Gastro Virus he caught from the day care the Friday before Labor Day weekend because my 87 yr old mom & my sister who has been battling breast cancer for a year was going to visit us that Sunday. I was able to warn them not to come because that Gastro Virus would have killed them both. Our family lost out on their visit and when they did visit 2 weeks later I wouldn't let them be close to my GS and I had to disinfect the whole house before they came....
