I will try to make this brief. Gd and her step sister were removed frm their mom and my son a year ago+. We have Gd, sister went w her bio Dad. Somehow child support has still been going to mom from sister's bio Dad since then. Apalling. It was not so simple as just calling to change it. Bio Dad now has full physical and legal custody and support to mom has ended. But wheels turn so slowly (and complicated by back support still owed) so still no $ from mom to Dad. I want to write to someone, senator, congressman, obmibudsman, IDK to ask for some help. Not interested in writing to dept of revenue, as I am no relation to either Bio Dad or child. Just want to get help for this family, sort of shake up someone to look into it from outside dept of revenue. Should I try senator, congressman, ? Dont want to send to everyone, too many cooks. Suggestions? BTW we as grands are set up to collect from both bios for the Gd we have.

I'm not sure I understand the situation. Is this correct?

The same mom had your granddaughter and another girl.

The other girl went to live with her bio-dad and your granddaughter came to live with you.

The other bio-dad had been paying child support to the mom, but it ended. Who is she getting child support from now?

Do you have legal custody/guardianship of your granddaughter, and have you requested child support from the bio mom or your son?

Call States Attorney's General office. They should be able to help or refer. Remember though that government moves slower than ever these days. Be sure to have case numbers handy.

Jan, Sorry to tell you but you can do nothing since you are not paying the money or receiving the money. If Bio Dad owes back support the money will continue to go to the bio mom until the arrears are caught up. Once that happens DOR will automatically stop taking money form Bio Dad.

If bio mom is now suppose to be paying bio dad child support then Bio Dad needs to send his court order to DOR to get the money taken out of Bio Mom. If he does not have a court order to send them then he needs to go to court to get one.

I have to add I have found the DOR in the state of MA very easy to work with. Right now I am not getting any child support but I hear it should start back up in another week or two.

I have had terrific help from dor in ma for the gd we have. Bio dad of sister has some weird fear of court stuff. Im working with his fiance to push him along. I believe a call from state rep or senator to dor might help to look into the case and get order going. So I wrote to both, just as interested grandma and gave them fiance name for contact. Maybe this will be just enough confidence for bio dad to go for it.

In illinois we need to call States Attorney's office and they send a form. They will complete investigation and send you results. Sorry but most do not care if you're a nice grandma and will quickly set you straight. They are all about legal rights. You said you have been approved for benefits and that may help you. It's worth a cal to find out.

Not sure if this will help because I am in Texas. One call to the ombudsman office did the trick for me. They are an extension of the Attorney Generals office....and they got results....very quickly! Hope this helps
