This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. I'm still kind of in a daze....I have been fighting for my GS's welfare since he was placed with me @ 2.5 mths old he is now almost 2 yrs old. It was all written on those papers along with the Bio Mom's past and present history. We are so happy that we will now take him out of the foster system however; sad because his parents are messed up.
I am thrilled that he will get Medi-Cal for special programs and he will be on our insurance for the normal health. I'm trying to get him into a new daycare for special needs and now that he has Medi-Cal he will get therapy there. The daycare he is in now is not setup for therapy treatments.
We had the option to have a lawyer, nonprofit lawyer or file the paperwork ourselves. After, the adoption SW walked us throw the process we are thinking we will file the paperwork ourselves. The lawyers will drag it on for 3-6 mths if we have them fill out the paperwork and file. I may have a lawyer look at the paperwork before we file the paperwork. If we do it the adoption will go through in a month!! We cannot wait until he is ours!!! We already have plans to remodel to make more room for him. He has a 3/4 bathroom he shares the Guest bathroom; we need to redo so there is more room for his things. We are also putting new flooring because he has mild cp and he falls allot and we have tile in the Family room, kitchen, hallway and his bathroom. We found a flooring that we can put underlayment so if he falls he won't crack his head on it. My brother-in-law gave us money to remodel.
I need to take off a couple of weeks from work because my gs has many new appointments and new therapy starting. So, my husband and I decided I should take off and I can also get the house ready for the remodel. Plus, since I am a full time worker and with all the appointments we have to do with GS my house has gotten disorganized in a way that it stresses me. I never been had to block out things I couldn't get to ever; I've been so busy with GS, work, and family I just can't get to some of these things.
I'm still up in the Clouds this morning. We should be all a family in as little as a month!!! His Bio Mother won't be able to mess with his head or raise him in the Crazy life she lives....

I thought it was a great idea for anybody! What a great way to shower - just walk into the corner and go for it. I don't know if it's cheaper that way or more expensive, but to be able to walk straight into a shower without stepping up or falling into a glass door seemed like a good idea to me :-)
I would love to get the shower/bath they advertize on TV for older folks that you can open short door, sit in it and it fits in a shower location. We really need more cabinet space for his things. I'm just going to repaint and put shelving in the sink cabinet to give it new life however; we will buy a new wall one to hold his bathing, etc needs.
