Grandparents Raising Children Support Group
This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. Join the support group to find support, share your experience, and get advice from other members.
A friend posted Haitian relief websites on FB and it reminded me to issue this warning. Most of us are focused on our grandchildren, so if we donate money to the relief effort we don't want it to go to fraudsters.
Do NOT click through from ANY e-mails, even if you've given to the Red Cross or another organization before. ALWAYS type in the URL address of the organization manually.
There were many fraudulent e-mails sent after the Indonesian tsunami. I got one, and something about the Red Cross logo just didn't look right, so I examined the site. There were misspellings and other subtle signs that it wasn't the real RC site.
I'm sure this will happen again, so pass the word!

Another way to donate is what I saw on the news this morning. SOS Clinton stated that if you wish to donate for Haiti, then you can text the word Haiti to a certain number and your cell bill will be charged 10 that will go directly to the efforts to help haiti.
