So, my dd had baby Friday. Sat, social worker drops by to ask her why she doesnt have her other kids. Apparently Dr had asked about pediatrician, she said she didnt have one. He asked where her other kids go, and she said they live with grandma. She gave them my phone number, havent heard from them YET.
Social worker asks her about postnatal depression, she proceeds to tell social worker how DSS in my state had taken gd from her as infant and given to me for 6 months because she had postnatal depression. She underwent therapy and got gd back. Since then shes had no dealings with DSS. She gave me custody of gd because she wanted to join military. ( instead she got pregnant , wow) Ive had gs since he was one, she was 16 when she had him, father abused him, took me a year to get him out of foster.
I cant believe she would talk so much. So now I assume GA dss is going to contact sc and get all the information. She lives with babys father, who is in the army, (plans to marry her when his divorce goes through, HOPE SO honestly)
Is GA DSS going to call me? Are they going to take the baby or just do home study and monitor situation? There is a roommate , will that tip the scales? Will they try to give me the baby even though Im in another state? IS SC DSS going to knock on my door to verify the kids live with me? Do states work together at all?

With our first gc, child protective dealt with my dd twice (the gc we have custody of, no thanks to child protective). I find them to be very lazy and indifferent in Indiana. The police looked at us like we were the bad guys after we called them because dd was on probation and using drugs while in our home caring for gd. They hardly moved until we started telling them we had a lawyer. We've encountered a few officer since then and they've asked how things turned out.
Connections Act of 2008 stipulates the grandparents and other kin are to be considered prior to general foster care. If CPS is not doing their job, go to supervisor and/or your Congressman. If CPS as a mandated reporter (as well as doctor and nurses) do not report possible abuse, they can be charged with a felony. The Fostering Connections Act pays the states to ensure children stay with family and the state is paid to enforce this. If they do not enforce it, the Feds will take money back! Hope this can be of help.
I wish I could predict what their approach will be ...I think it would be great if they will just monitor situation as I'm so far away
