In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. We took the kids on a cross country vacation. At first I thought it was going to be a bust as we were heading into Texas, I received a phone call asking if our DD was with us. Apparently, my DD posted on Fb a bunch of crap that she was headed for NY..our destination! I ignored the phone call and information given as much as possible. The nagging in my mind knowing her car wouldn't make it made me text her asking where she was.
The two days it took her to answer me we were already close to NY, and I came to the realization, she is 32 years old and can do what she wants, but she wasn't going to put a damper on our vacation!
Her text stated she was in AZ and things were going down with her. I told her we would talk after I got back and left it at that.
The five of us had a great time! I took the kids Strawberry picking, we spent much needed time with our other two boys and their families.
I come home to find DD is back with abusive BF and as she says, they are getting along fine now..."he is in anger management classes" OK, again she can go live her life. I adopted her children and we will live life to the fullest! I didn't let her interfer with vacation and I'm not going to let it interfer with our lives.

We started going to Disneyworld when it opened. We loved it so much we purchased a mini motorhome and vacationed there at least three times a year. Our oldest daughter was in the Disney College Program and studied under buyers for her degree in Fashion Merchandising. Her training and experience at Disney taught her to "wish upon a star" when she was diagnosed with brain tumor. Our youngest daughter has a BA in Dance and worked as VIP Mickey/Minnie. Our oldest had a baby 14 months before she died of brain cancer and we adopted him. He has been to Disney about 8 times as he grew up. It has been our home away from home. Disney has become very expensive but there are ways to go on a budget. Camping is the cheapest and there are great campgrounds throughout the Disney area, especially in Kississimee
area. There are also a lot of "kids eat free" and buses that take you from campground/hotel to the Disney parks. The park tickets have become very expensive but you don't need to see it all in one trip. Choose one or two and focus on those. You can always plan another trip as kids get older. Getting a little "fairy dust" sprinkled on you and kids can do wonders! We also tapered down on buying toys for Christmas and Birthdays and put the money towards our trip. We asked grandparents to give the kids money for them to buy souvenirs. It is a great place that brings a little bit of magic into your life. I hope you can make it....you won't regret it!
We did skim down on a lot of other purchases to save money. The two older ones understood, if we don't buy we save for the trip. The girls wanted to go to NYC on this trip. I told them no because I don't know the area and some areas are not safe. My long time friend knows the city and has three grands. We are planning a girls trip around christmas time in a few years. My girls are already telling me they don't need a whole lot of new clothes for school, so the money can start saving!
