I hope your GD gets the chance to recover her belongings.
Our GD does not have alot of memories from the time she was back with her mother from 7 1/2 yo until last August when she was able to come back to us.
She sees pictures all over our house from the time she was born until we lost her at 7 1/2. When Grandpa and I ask her if she remembers these fun times, she tells us that she thought she had dreamed it. :(
We just had a BD for my GS. My oldest GD told the story of me allowing my 10yo GD on her first BD to stomp her cake with her feet.. I also allowed my oldest to go through the photos and make posters of pictures when she was young which she pinned up on her bedroom wall.
My oldest GD and I just had a small conversation about her father ( my son) this morning. Would we be able to recognize him in a store if we saw him? What he might look like and what would we do.
I have always tried to saturate them with the goodtime memories. Once in awhile they bring up the not so good. Try sharing with your GD, I'm sure in time you might be able to break some of the wall and she might start to remember.
Good information and suggestions from you. Thank you.
