Okay..... I have had my gd who just turned 9 mos living with me for the last 4 months. She is doing well thankfully. Her father, my son, has been living at a homeless shelter since Jan 1 in another town about 1 hour away. I just have the gd living with me with no formal type of agreement or paperwork on her. :-(
I got a form from the doctor's office that they wanted him to fill out and sign so I would have permission to take her to see the doctor and act on her behalf in his absence. He said if we came down this past Saturday he would sign it as long as he could spend some time with her.
We spent about 5-6 hours with him. He enjoyed holding, changing, playing and feeding his daughter he had not seen since January 1. She seemed happy to see daddy as well.
When it was time to go, my son was fighting back tears. A few managed to roll down his face before he could wipe them away. We are going to take her back down for a visit with daddy here on Feb. 22. Hope he is as pleasant and clean as he was this weekend.
Now...the 6 yr old's mother finally made contact with my husband. She wanted him to download some stupid chat app on his phone. He sent her back a text asking why if she has time to send him that type of stuff, why doesn't she call or come see her daughter?
Oh holy hell broke loose then. She went off on my husband about stuff that made no sense in part. She accused him of taking away her daughter behind her back by dragging her into court. We have permanent legal guardianship of the 6 year old gd. Her mother even called up my husband and started to chew him up one side and down the other over stuff. so he finally said "enough" and hung up on her. He texted her and said when you calm down and can be civil you can call and talk to your daughter.
About 30 minutes later, she calls and get to talk to her daughter. This is the first time in ages mother has called to talk to her daughter even though mother has been in town, around the area, etc for the last few weeks again. They talked for like 25 minutes as the gd had to get ready to attend a Girl Scout event that afternoon out of town.
The gd has been asking me "why doesn't my mother call me or come see me?". All I can tell the poor girl is that it is her mother's choice and I can't MAKE her mother call or come see her. It breaks her heart.
GD is slowly finding out the mother doesn't always tell the truth about things as well.
This is the same daughter that is also in the process of having her other two children taken away from her. The little boy is being given to his father in Texas and will have a good home with him. Mother goes to court March 3-4 to fight for her rights on her youngest daughter. It doesn't look like she will get to keep her rights. My daughter has put in paperwork to adopt the youngest daughter so she can stay within the family and have contact with her older half sister that we are raising.
So if that isn't enough, my husband's youngest daughter called this past weekend. She told him that she is expecting and is due the first part of October. *SIGH* She will turn 23 the end of Feb and is still as clueless as ever. If she is short of a few fries on a Happy Meal, her husband is short the whole meal!!! So this is going to be interesting to see how this works out. She has already called or texted her dad about the morning sickness, when is it going to end, about twins, etc. We can tell it is going to be a VERY VERY LONG 9 months with this one. :-(
The sad part is the kid who wants a child the worst and would make the best parent is my daughter who may never be able to have one of her own. That is part of the reason they turned in the paperwork to see if they could possibly adopt the little sister of the 6 yr old we are raising.
Things are just so grand!!!
At least it seems like my son "might" be starting to wake up a little. He still doesn't have a job but was a lot calmer, cleaner, and civil then he has been the past few months. He knows that I will not let anything happen to his little girl.
Oh yeah....son's ex girlfriend is pregnant with probably his next child. She is due in July and is moving back to live near her folks out of state this weekend. At least her and I have a good friendship/relationship and are keeping the lines of communication open. She will make a good mother and with help from her family should do okay. So at least that is one less worry for us right now.
I just wish kids would stop and think before they lay down with someone about the costs involved not only for them but for their children and everyone else! I know we can not take on any more children to raise due to age and health.
It would have been nice to know what empty nesting is all about but oh well.....life isn't dull at out house!!
Thanks for listening.
