Some days life just sucks.

Your still mourning your old life or the life you should be having. Stick in there, like grammy22 said..."Some days life just sucks". your GC are young, they have no clue about what you are saving them from, only that they love their bio. Someday they will figure it out when they become more mature.

scgramma, you sacrifice your life, your finances, everything because you love those kids and you want what is best for them. They may make you think they don't want to be there but they really do not know. I think God just put something in us that makes us want our parents love. I don't think any of us can change that.
Frankly, we may never hear how much of a difference we made in their lives but you have to know in your heart you have made an eternal difference in the lives of you grandkids.
My favorite movie is It's a Wonderful Life. How nice it would be if God would let us see how the seeds we have planted have produced. We just have to wait because it is His plan.
Some days do suck, but what matters is what you are doing is eternal, hang in there.

When our three grandkids were about those ages they wanted to live with "Mommy" as well. Mostly it was because "Mommy" kept promising that she would get a job, a car, an apartment, etc. and take them back. Of course none of that ever happened.

Now they barely want to see her and don't even care that she hasn't called in four weeks (as of tomorrow).

As my husband and I go into the empty nest again, we've looked back at all that has happened. We both agree we would do nothing different. We have a wonderful bond with our gs. Don't take the kids comments personally. They head other kids talk about mom and it's confusing for them. They know you are the one who is there. We are heading south next month for a vacation, just the two of us. We can't wait to lie in the sun and get warm after this terrible winter. Our gs is watching the dog for us. Personally, I can't see myself sitting around doing nothing...too boring. I miss that we can't spend more time with our granddaughters to experience some of the good times we had with our gs. You know what they say....the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Tomorrow will be better...I promise.

Sitting here listening to 99.1 JOY FM & the song "Here's my broken Hallelujah"..........just fits how I feel so much of the time. I love the song. We are all doing very tough jobs that most people will never understand. Scotsman, are your kids in counseling? I think their mother's influence on them might be one that a counselor might tell you to limit......I went through raising a stepson who was less than 2 when I took on the mommy role. He always thought he wanted to go live with her. There were many difficult years. I'm praying my 2 GSs don't put me through all of that all over again :0(

scgramma, They're so young, they don't truely understand what they're saying. Please don't be so hard on yourself. One day, they will fully understand what you have done for them and they will be grateful... Big (((((hugs))))).

Thanks everyone. I have been so low lately, too much stress . I just lost my mother in law last week,, ddmom is 5 months pregnant and just kicked new baby daddy to the curb. I actually liked that one, he treated the kids good and brought a bunch of Christmas presents for them . A descent guy with a good job.
I knew it couldn't last... 3rd grandchild , 3rd baby daddy, last 3 boyfriends were deadbeats and 1 was felon

I just wish the kids would wake up and realize it's not happening so they can heal.
