Grandparents Raising Children Support Group
This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. Join the support group to find support, share your experience, and get advice from other members.
Don't feel defeated. No matter what you "did" your daughter still had choices to make and made the wrong ones. She is simply trying to place blame and her anger on someone else, when SHE is the one who needs to own it.
Regardless of what you supposedly "did" YOU are the one who has stepped up to the plate and you're doing the responsible, grown-up, adult, mature thing by taking care of her child. SHE, on the other hand, still is not and she hates it and resents you for being the responsible one.
I'm sure her diatribe felt awful, but I think you just witnessed her own problems in dramatic fashion. SHE is the one who needs to work on that anger, etc. with her therapist.
I hope you can come to the point of realizing that no matter what happened in a child's home, ultimately it is that child's responsibility to grow up and deal with it. It doesn't sound as if she's ready yet.
