We each have our story but we all go through the sadness over our losses. You are grieving and now your dad has suffered. If you have faith now is time to pray. You cannot control what has happened. It is not your fault. You have come to the right place. We understand. How bad was the stroke? My husband suffered one at 49 after our first born was diagnosed w malignant brain tumor. Sometimes it just is too much and you feel like you're going to burst w sadness. Hang in there and come back to talk. You are amongst friends.

So sorry you are feeling sad - I have those days as well. We have a similar situation here. My dd fianc overdosed on drugs in May of this year. We have their 13 mo son. I keep praying my daughter comes to her senses and sees what everyone else does . How her drug use is affecting the baby. He has already lost his father to drugs and now his mom is using and if things don't change she will lose her parental rights. What helps me most when I am feeling down is the realization that at least I no longer have to worry about my precious grandbaby. He is safe and very loved here with us. Keep your chin up. You are among some very special grandparents here. Grandparents who have stepped up to do the right thing for our precious grandkids :)

Pinky doesn't fit in, either, not really. Most of our family tolerate her presence at get-togethers, but I'm sure they're all thinking of the way she abandoned her three kids, forcing us to raise them and give up our lives.

When she was still using all the time, she said something about how she "appreciated" what we were doing for her. I remember laughing, and I said, "we're not doing this for you. You're a runaway train, headed for the kids, so we just took the kids off the tracks so they'll be safe. Whatever happens with you is what happens."

Sounds mean, I know, but if the shoe fits... :-]
