Thank God he's out of an unsafe situation and with someone who will truly love him :-)

Just keep praying for answers & they will come eventually. It's really hard in the beginning while you're trying to get everything settled into a routine & get the help going. You have to take it one day at a time. I was blessed to have a boss who really worked with me & still does to this day. I hope you find someone who can watch baby soon. Welcome; you're in a good place for moral support.

There might be some daycare centers near you who are familiar with Family Services and would agree to take you GS while you're waiting for the paperwork to go through. The caseworker might be willing to call them for you or send them a note saying the paperwork will take X amount of days. They will most likely make the payment to the daycare center retroactive. Ask your worker.

I believe a 51/50 is that they are a danger to themselves or others and they can keep them 3 days and then they have to either go to court and establish the danger or release her. I hope they will be smart enough to leave child with you while the parents hopefully w/try to get their act together. You might try the 211 system and if works there, they may be able to help with daycare or get you an advance to help pay for sitter. If not, call your child welfare hot line and ask for help. The social worker s/be telling you this but some of them just don't want to be bothered.

In the State of Michigan - if your babysitter will come to your house to watch the kids - it doesn't matter what his record states - He just can not come to the house and she can not take the kids to her house. My babysitter was certified through the state before this happened - I got lucky - God put everybody in place - I did end up quitting my job - because my 4 year old grandson was a mess and all the appointments they had to go to. I will be keeping you in my prayers. Also - check into child care - In Michigan - the state pays for child care if you are going to school or working. check your state - the DHS worker should be helping you with all of this - I had great ones that guided me though each step -

How old is your GS? Is he used to being with you already? I hope he is an only child. Sounds like parents have some really big problems. Why wasn't your son able to care for his children? He wasn't in jail right?

No, my son wasn't in jail. Both the Bio mom and my son are on SSI my son was born with the cord around his neck and he has mild Cerebral Palsy, seisures and other issues. My son went to private schools the first 4 yrs until a young Dr told me that I needed to put him in public school for specials classes. That was a big mistake but I didn't find that out til later. We moved to California where it got harder for me to get him into programs. I pretty much took care of him and he received special Ed along with OT until out of high school. Long story...we placed him in a state group home when he became depressed and harder to handle when we had 2 more children of our own to care for. He then left state home because too strict and convinced me to let him stay at other group homes where he met the bio mom who was on SSI due to past drug use (I didn't find that out until 1 month before birth) they didn't make any plans after birth nor did they get any services to help them to care for the child. I took them in after the birth from hospital. I took Family medical leave for a month then they wanted to move because we had house rules. They moved out to Christian group home where they got caught drinking and the bio mom beat up my son with the baby in his arms. I found out and called CPS. When CPS came they were out and a person from the group home text them and they were on the run for several wks until she left in the middle of the night with the baby and my son called the police. That is when they found her wondering in a gang/drug area of Los Angeles. I was called and he is now with me. I really don't think they will get themselves together it would be a miracle if they do.

The baby is doing great by us because we lived with him his first month of life. We are so happy that he is with us. I still have the child care issue that I need until I go on school/work break on the 15th. I did get a phone number of a good local daycare that works with child services and I will be calling them tomorrow to put him on the list for when I go back to work.
