Tomorrow morning I will be going to a hearing towards my husband and I obtaining the legal custody of our 6 yr old gd. I am dreading it - for obvious reasons but also I get very nervous and intimidated by such things. I'm sitting here feeling like throwing up. Please pray, wish, cross your fingers or whatever that I get through this and we get a good outcome. Thanks to all - I've gained a lot from this site and all you great people.

It is understandable to feel nervous and intimidated - these people have all the power and they can make decisions with momentous effects on us and our gc. They don't always understand what the child has gone through and the need to keep them safe, especially when the bio(s) are articulate and persuasive.

Sitonit, you should be fine. If anything, wait until you see how routine the whole process is. One of the saddest things my husband and I have ever seen. They call your case, up you go and boom -- another child given to someone else to raise.

I hope that you and your husband prevail. Just make sure all of your documentation is in order, and that you stick to the facts. I'll say prayers that the judge does right by your granddaughter!

Congrats.....Both you, your husband and your GD are very fortunant to have each other. My family is very happy for you. It is just one hurdle of many that you will continue to face but in the end it is all worth it.
