Your story makes me wonder if he accomplished what he was supposed to in the past 8 years.
My sister-in-law had a genetic lung cancer, and was in her final two weeks at hospice. The doctors said we should all say "good-bye." A long story, because she wasn't Catholic, but a priest stopped by and prayed with her and my brother. Within two weeks she was back at work, and in pain, but was able to function at about 90%!!! Her story was written up in a catholic newspaper.
Well, within a few months my brother was diagnosed with mesothelioma. Now the two of them had terminal cancer!!!
She stayed alive long enough to help him become adjusted to his disease, made peace with her eldest daughter (another long story - they loved each other but had some issues), and accepted the Lord.
She lasted about two years after she was supposed to die. I believe she was given that reprieve for a reason. Now it will be my brother's turn, but so far, thank God, he's also functioning at 90% -- waaaay beyond doctors' predictions.
Another quick story - back in the 80s a 13-year-old girl wrote a letter to Gorbachev asking him to do something involving peace, I can't remember. Anyway, he took it seriously and took some action (again, I can't remember). She died in a plane crash about a year later.
So maybe your uncle/brother did what God wanted him to do when he got an extra 8 years. I would advise you to think about what that was, and perhaps it can give you some peace. In other words, the miracle may have already happened.
But I'll pray for him and you anyway :-)
Hugs,
Sara

Her story has always inspired me, because I remember hearing about her death. My first thought was: She did what the Lord sent her to do and now she's going home to Him.
You have been through so much lately, and now this....
My prayers are with you all.
No matter what happens you will always have those additional eight years of memories! May the Lord make whatever is His will be smooth and comfortable for everyone. God Bless. Tell your brother we are praying for him.
My prayer for him right now is that if God is going to take him to just let him go to sleep and not wake up.I can't take seeing him in pain.To us he is very much like a child and it tears me apart to see him hurting.
The grandmother [my mother's mother] who raised me had 16 brothers and sisters. That makes for a whole lot of aunts uncles and cousins. It seems like we are always going to something;a weddings funerals baby showers, family diners..etc.My husband and I have been married 11 years and he still hasn't met all of my family.Just about every time we go to town I will end up seeing one of them and have to explain that its one family. It just astounds him just how big my family really is.There were 2 deputies came to our house when we 1st got custody of our oldest gc and both of them turned out to be my cousins. When we 1st got married the sessions judge was my cousin, the sherriff was my Godfather [ also my grandmother's nephew] ,I had 8 cousin in the sherriffs dept and 6 in the police dept.My hubby used to tease me and say that he had to be carefull because I could get away with murder in this town!!
