In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. She just came from the Dr's and they told her she has Thyroid cancer. The told her that it's the better one to have, for Thyroid Cancer...She will need to take thyroid meds for the rest of her life. However; she is worried that it will interfere with them having a baby. They have been married for 4 yrs and they just moved to New Hampshire for a job. They were hoping to start a family soon....She is a wonderful daughter and has a wonderful husband. She has worked her way through College to only find NO jobs in California so her and her husband left to live near his family to find jobs and lower the cost of living there.
She has surgery appointment April 10th, 3 days before my gs's adoption. She wants me to be with her, she lives in New Hampshire and I do too. My husband only has 5 days left on his vacation so he'll end up using it all.
Wow, this year has really been a big challenge for me! Thank God I am a tough old lady!

My stepson married a wonderful woman who also had thyroid cancer. As far as I know it was treated fairly easily and painlessly, and she's fine now - but you're correct that she has to take meds. I don't know if they'll be able to have children or not (they only recently got married :-)
