I don`t know your story but after reading your post I can surely
understand your worry. I`am sure you have done all you can
for these children. I will add them to my thoughts and prayers
as well as you. Try to busy yourself with productive or pleasant
activities and leave the rest to God. I know that is all I can do
many days when I worry about my gd. I know its easy to say but
sometimes harder to practice.

Nutsandbolts, I read your post before I went to bed last night and it gave me nightmares...today I have the worst headache. I can't imagine what you are going through. I'm praying for all of you. The amount of strength and determination you have shown is so amazing. I admire your courage and fearlessness in standing up for the kids. Hang in there, I hope this resolves soon.

I get to see the kids tomorrow. I'm so looking forward to it. I'm buying their halloween costumes tonight and planning a dress up party. This of course is after I feed them. If anything I'll make sure they have full bellys twice a month. My Daughter gets to visit once a week so that's 6 full bellys a month!

I haven't seen my daughter outside of the courtroom in ages, but she is coming here after the visit to give me the flyer which will have the costume picked out by my GD. Yes all information I recieve from daughter is via text or e-mail. She does keep me up to date on her visits.

I hope you have a fun visit with the kids. I'm really surprised that no one is making an issue of these children not gaining weight. My caseworker would be questioning this foster mother and she would be speaking with the kids' doctor if this was happening in one of her cases. She is adament that I keep up with my GS's dental, vision, and medical appointments. Those appointments are all tracked by a health advocate who keeps track of my GS and all the other foster children, I assume. Have you spoken with the CW and asked her/his opinion on these children not gaining appropriate amounts of weight and saying they only eat soup for supper? I mean, there are homemade pots of stew which are loaded with meats and veggies and then there are cans of store bought which are often times mostly sodium based water. The CW is being negligent in my opinion. Not saying a can of Campbell's soup and a grilled cheese or PB sandwich is out of the question, but something is wrong when a child does not gain weight in that many months.

GmaWilli: I agree! I have spoken several times to the CW, Supervisor and Deputy Of Programs regarding no wieght gain, continued diaper rash and lack of just general care... I get all the right things said to me, but nothing happens. When I went for my Evaluation, the Doctor said I sounded worried about the kids. I told her the problems, and about how my GS is on a steriod and has not gained one pound, when in fact a child on steriods typically are a little over wieght.... I saw a light bulb with her agreement that a doctor knows this! Now lets just hope I'm not crazy mentally and she can rule for the kids to be brought back to my husband and I. . I think if the Evaluation comes out good on my husband and I, the 2008 Act President Bush signed has to go into play. Sometimes I do feel like this ordeal has caused me to go crazy, I just hope GOD keeps protecting the kids and allows us to be a family soon.

My daughter said, She heard the Parent aide say my husband and I will be having a visit next week with the kids, because they don't know what is going to happen in court on Nov. 4th. This scares the hell out of me as if they are making our final visit plans. GOD PLEASE DON"T LET THIS HAPPEN!

OK, I'm going to play devils advocate here but hopefully it will offer a different persepective on the weight issue. I have a nephew that is almost 3. At 10 months he had such chubby legs with fat creases in them. By the time he was a year those went away and his legs thinned out because he started walking and growing more. I went to a dr. appt with my sister and him for his check up not too long ago. He's in the 5th % percental for height and weight and weighs in a whopping 26lbs. But he's very petite like my sister who is 4' 3". She asked the pediatrician if she should be concerned because he only gained a small amount of weight over the last 6 month and the pediatrician said no they weren't concerned. While he is on the lower end of the spectrum being in the 5th percentile, they said as long as he's not losing they weren't concerned. All kids are different and grow at different rates the pediatrician explained. Also he is somewhat of a picky eater. He's given pediasure and vitamins to supplement. But all in all the pediatrician said not to worry. So 25 lbs at 12 months is a far cry from 26lbs at almost 3.

If you have a relationship with the pediatrician you used to take him to, why not ask them about it and see what their opinion is?

Hi Granny, I understand what you are saying, but here are the facts.
GS was 25 pounds at 12 mth old when he went into the foster home. He is 25 pounds at 22 mths old after being in the foster home. GS has always been in the 90 to 95 % growth for height and weight. GS takes steroids... Which increases the appetite making most children chunky. For him to be taking steroids and not gain one pound in the 9 almost 10 months that he has been in the foster home..This is a big red flag!

I try my hardest to think of all possible scenarios before coming on line here. I did go to his previous doctor and she gave me the information on his last visit for weight and height. She also took a deep breath in disbelief. She wasn't suppose to give me that information because I don't have custody of them, so she sees what has been happening.

Thank you for putting a spin on this, but what is happening is really happening.

This situation continues to break my heart...I know that if I hadn't taken in my GS in the beginning I would have to fight like you. I'm still praying for you and your family...I am so angry at Bio parents...
