I want to take this time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hope for a peaceful New Year! At our house my 3yo GS/S was counting the days till Santa came. My older GD 14yo and GD/D 9yo were busy whispering around the house trying to figure out where we hid the gifts. we're so much wiser at this age, they don't have a chance...LOL!
My DD came over to decorate the tree. I was totally blown away when out of a box she brought was my DS first tree ornament. She gave it to my GD to place on the tree. I can't tell you how much it touched me to have a part of him with us even if it was only hanging on the tree... He has chosen a life without us for years.
My DD stayed the night from Monday through x-mas . She would leave in the middle of the night and come back. I'm sorry to say she is still using.
My 9yo put chocolate syrup on my 14yo nose while she was sleeping... My 14yo didn't see the humor and when she tried telling me how unacceptable the behavior was...I had all I could do to keep myself composed enough to tell my 9yo she needed to say sorry...I removed myself as quickly as I could from the house and laughed for 1/2 hour... It's sooo hard being 14!
My 9yo was in the production play of Winnie the Pooh. She made a great owl and was wonderful on stage until it came to her solo song and lines, then she got stage fright big time ...But everyone loved her costume...LOL On her wish list for Santa, she wanted on America's Got Talent !
I had another wonderful day to place in my memories. Even though things aren't the way they should be by nature, I'm so thankful I get the upfront line of watching my GC.

Pinky actually showed up with no black eyes! It took the kids a while to start talking to her, and I notice they're a little cool with her, but at least no fights.
Your chocolate syrup story reminded me of the surveillance camera the kids put in the Christmas tree, aimed at the fireplace. (We open some presents on Christmas Eve with the cousins and one of the presents was a flexible tripod.)
We went crazy, trying to figure out how we would show Santa coming down the chimney. Fortunately, the tripod fell out of the tree and the kids didn't notice. HAHAHA!
