I hope you are okay. I often feel that way,, sort of stunned did that really just happen, because never in a million years could I dream up some of the crap.

That's why i became an author! People kept saying: "you ought to write a book." So i did. When i do book signings there is always one woman who says: "oh i can't read your book, it's too sad." I usually respond: "i know".

Where is the "like" button on here? LOL

LOL I can relate to all of this!
I even had a friend tell me that my life "IS A SOAP OPERA!"

I am certain sometime in the distant future, our stories will make a good but sad soap opera or lifetime movie. Writing a best selling novel is another option.

If we don't laugh at times, we will just cry. and cry alone at that.

Sadly if our lives were ever a soap opera, they would run for seasons on end with all the twists and turns our lives take.

How about the "friends" who tell you that you should not have taken on the responsibility ? At our daughter's funeral a long time "friend" came up to me and asked me if I regretted putting her in the research chemo program that had a 70% success rate. Unfortunately she fell in to the 30% and eventually we went to in-home hospice. After stuttering from her insulting remark, I responded: "of course not...it was a chance for her to survive!" I can't tell the number of people who have suggested we s/have left our gs with the abusive parents as it "not our responsibility".

People are strange and react strangely to unusual circumstances. Like diarrhea of the mouth, by saying it's not our responsibility. If it's not, who the heck is going to see to these abused children!?!

I never ceases to amaze me when someone say, that's so good of you to take her in. Like I'm going to leave any baby in an abusive situation, let alone my gd!

I know redhead... isn't that comment about being 'so good of you' one of the most idiotic things you've ever heard ? It leaves me speechless. If my life was a soap opera, I'd turn it off and get a real life....whatever that is.

You ladies are cracking me up- in a good way. And it's so true, if we didn't sometimes laugh at our situations- we would go crazy!
Our lives may make a good "reality" show. Some of those are pretty crazy too, lol. And those folks who say they admire the fact that we are raising our grands don't have a clue!

Have been hanging around this group for awhile now. I will post my story, but first wanted to comment on the uncomfortable feeling I get when others who are not in our situation say "I admire you for doing this, blah blah blah." I'm baffled for a response. As if we are the all-sacrificing saints of all time. Was there ever even a thought that this was anything other than the right thing to do??? Frustrating. And they also have no idea how enriched our lives have become!
