So today i get a text from stepdaughter. She wants to attend our daughters summer camp activities. I said no. Why should she? I don't want to put our GD in the position of having to explain who this women is. Until she can show consistency I don't think it's Un our gds best interest. I'm I wrong?

I totally agree with you, as well. In my experience, the "moms" want to do these things only so that they can get the glory.

When Pinky was still using (and even today), if she attends any events with the kids, she works that room like a politician. "Hi! I'm their MOTHER!" she proclaims, then acts as if she's raising them and involved in their lives. I grind my teeth, but since we're in a small town I realize that most of the parents know what's going on.

If she really wanted to be part of your granddaughter's life, she'd be raising her - or doing the day-to-day drudgery that we do.

While I agree with you, will stopping her be interpreted as taking away her rights? Perhaps you could be a little devious in giving her information on where the camp is located or have her come an hour late? She may rant and rave but it will be her show while you apologize for the error in time. Sometimes you have to play their game with their rules.

I agree with you and the others here...

My DD wants to be part of GD "fist" beach trip etc. but doesn't want to take the responsibilities just the glories...

Daisy I think it can be argued that I'm looking out for what us in the best interest if our granddaughter. She has a lot of anxiety when she needs to explain who her mommy is. Also we have supervised visits and just abut 4 weeks ago she was being investigated by the welfare department and the guy d her at home with a registered sex offender. So I think I can argue that I'm looking out for our gds best interest. I hope.
