I'm so proud of my granddaughter!

Our middle granddaughter (age 10) is on the phone with a girlfriend, walking through the house and talking as I sit in my office at the computer. Just a minute ago I overheard her telling her friend: "Women should be famous for something other than singing and dancing and wearing makeup and being beautiful." Then she went on to say something about ugly girls needing to be successful, too, and her voice faded away. I wish I'd caught the whole thing. And she herself is very, very pretty -- which makes her comment even more special.

WOW! I'd hug her and tell her how proud I am, but then she'd know I was paying attention to her conversation. I'm GLOWING and had to post it right away!!!! :-)

So sweet. You should be proud of the values you are teaching your grandchildren. They will be strong adults some day.

She's actually the smartest of the three, and ironically does the worst in school. Ooooh, how many times I've told her that if she would apply herself just a teensy bit more she would ace every subject. But it's like pulling teeth.

What's REALLY ironic is that she's so much like I was at her age -- interested in just about everything but schoolwork. I didn't fall in love with scholarship until a few years out of college -- when I was free to enjoy it for its own sake, instead of passing tests!

Yet she isn't a blood relative. That's plain spooky!

That's great! I wish my 5 yr old grand would think like that. I've tried to stress that inner beauty is more important than external beauty (my daughter is very pretty but a beast). Hopefully she'll understand more when she's a bit older.

That's one very smart little girl you'v got there, Sara. Thanks for sharing!! I think as "older" parents, we are instilling some values that have been lost along the way & I think our children will benefit greatly from it. They will be a "step" ahead in some aspects of life. This is a prime example.
