I'm being petty

As some here know not only do i have my GD but i also have her dad. Which by the way he has been doing good for the last month. ( can you believe it...) I have managed some how to hurt my knee I'm in alot of pain and cannot bear weight on it. Last night my husband was having to go load a load so he can leave for OH on Sunday and my son went to dinner with some people from is single parent class and so i ask GD to fix me something cold to drink and she whined and said " O, can you get it." I did but I have gone out of my way for this child since her mom is not hear and I just got here a cell phone that she can only text or call in case she is at the skating rink or in the neighborhood playing and her mom shows up. I have bent over backwards for this child but I refused to let her be rude or inconsiderate so for the next few weeks she is gonna get a rude awakening. Am I being petty cause I'm in pain?

I don't think you're being petty. But I wouldn't have gotten the drink, either LOLOL!

Our middle child tries that one on me all the time. I give them their milk with dinner, for example, and then she wants a refill. I say "there's the refrigerator," laugh and walk away.

When you are in pain, it is hard to be understanding. I injured my knee stepping out of the car! We were in the process of moving and my husband had just gone through emergency appendectomy and was in the hospital. My gs and I did our best to move everything but the furniture. I knew I did something to my knee but in my own stubborn way, I continued on, limping to and fro but not stopping. Two months later I awoke still in pain and realized I must do something. I went to the treatment center and they diagnosed a small tear in a ligament. Could not believe the pain from such a small injury! Everyone was still asleep when I returned home and were concerned when they found me not home. "Why didn't you wake me up?" Gs did not have license and husband is disabled....what could they do? This being said, I have learned a great lesson. If you are always doing for others, they will not recognize your needs. They will believe what you have shown them....you can do it all. Talk to your family and tell them: "I need your help....I'm hurt and I need to take care of it. I have been there for you...will you be there for me?"

I would have told her she needed to get it for me because I was hurting
& told her she is big enough to help & much too old to whine about it. Had she continued, I would tell her if she's not grown up enough to help someone who is hurt, she's not grown up enough to be left at the skating rink or grown up enough to have a cell phone. Better nip that in the bud early!!! I'm trying really hard not to mske the same mistakes this time around that I made with my kids who are now grown.

How is your knee? Are you feeling better? You really are not being petty at all. I would ask my 6 yo to get a drink for me!

Im with Daisy on this one. Everyone in the family has a responsiblity to take care of each other. She needs to learn that she also has a role in the family as well.
