Grandparents Raising Children Support Group
This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. Join the support group to find support, share your experience, and get advice from other members.
Just last week the youngest was invited to yet another birthday party, and I thought, "no, I can't do this." I've been working full-time, shopping for Christmas, driving three kids to scouts and other parties, events, Christmas parties, etc.
I felt bad at first, but once I hung up the phone with the mom I felt SO good. One less thing on my to-do list.
I don't know how you ladies do it all!
mamaw - you are a wonder. You help others and take care of so many people! Honestly, I'm going to tell you what people are fond of telling me - you need to get a thicker skin ;). Your son will get over it. Maybe sooner maybe later, but eventually. Let him have his temper tantrum. We, as parents, have to stick to our boundaries. If you feel you did anything wrong in the whole ordeal (yelled or whatever), send him a note apologizing for yelling but reitterating that you will not attend children's parties where alcohol is served. Leave it at that. He'll come around. If not, that's his loss.
God bless you for all you do! You are a wonder!
