This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. Now that my GS has been evaluated for developmental services and the appointments with treatment & classes that I was told I will need to take I have decided I will have to take Family medical leave. I am thinking about taking the intermittent so I can come in to get caught up on work plus if the other girl in the office needs vacation (all depending on my classes & GS's treatment dates). Otherwise, they are for 3 mths (12wks straight). All I know is that I take off enough now full days and half days and I feel overwhelmed so taking more full days to get things done will take some stress away for me.
I was told by the Grandparents Org. that I sudden sign the adoption papers until I get all the classes done which will insure that I know how to help my grandson. She also said that I may be able to get the adoption stipid to help with the care. This would help for us because I have to take off work don't get paid then I still have to pay daycare even if he misses days.
My poor house, too...I usually do better seasonal cleaning & organizing then what I am able to do since I have had my grandson. When I start not knowing where I have stored things or our garage is full of boxes I know it will be a bigger job to get caught up on that.
I took my GS to get a shot & a TB test on Friday along with dropping off the paperwork for Regional Center. My GS Dr came in and said that if he doesn't walk by 19 mths he may have a form of Cerebral Palsy. My husband & I weren't a little stunned...however; it also makes sense because he had to be bagged when he was born along with a few other issues on delivery. I also told the Dr that it concerns me that he doesn't eat food with chunks all he's food I have to have smooth baby food or I blend it in my bullet. I didn't write it down but the Dr stated a term for it.
My husband & I looked at each other throughout this weekend feeling sad that our GS may have some big challenges in his life. Plus, we will have to step up to help him...
I just pray that our tenants don't decide to move in the next month or two...we will need to use our reserves for me while I take FML and if we would have to pay 2 mortgages & fix up the rental if damage or dirty would really hurt...

Thank God we can focus on the needs of the kids, because if we thought too much about the bios we would lose our minds from the unfairness of it all.
I purchased DVD's 1st thing when I heard bio mom was PG regarding how to eat healthy, etc...I only seen her 3 times during PG when they came over...I would give her Protein mixes, Green Veggie juices I would blend and I bought her prenatal Vitamins. Neither my son nor she gave any thought to my warning on caring for the baby inside her...
My son will have an eye opening when we adopt...my husband won't care if he sees the baby at all...
