I had to hang up on Pinky today.

She called and asked why her father and I were "acting the way we were," and I told her we knew she was using again. There was a silence, then she tried this prize: "You know me. If you said I was using and I was, I wouldn't say anything," and she proceeded to tell me that all of her problems were because she was trying to stop taking Suboxone. Mmm-hmmm.

Then she said that she had a different cell phone because she didn't pay her real cell phone bill. I let her ramble on about it until she said she would pay that bill next week and have her old phone and number back.

"Well, you can't get it back, can you?" I said. She said, "what do you mean?" And I said, "you told your brothers and your mother that you were held up and someone stole your purse and your phone. Which story is true?

Oh, she tried SO hard to reconcile both stories, and I told her to go to AA or NA and get her life straightened out. Then I said she was making my head spin so I was hanging up. And I did.

Jeeeeeeze.

But life is SO much more wonderful when she isn't here :-)

My daughter would always trade her cell phone for drugs. She also allowed use of her (my) car in exchange for drugs. One time they didn't bring the car back and you have never heard such a jumble of lies out of her trying to explain. We eventually got the car back, but the police had searched it and slit the carpets and seats looking for hidden drugs. She called this week asking for a visit and said she would call back yesterday to make plans. Guess what? Nothing. I'll be so glad when the adoption is final. How do your kids handle all of her antics? I'm sure they're more relaxed when they don't have to deal with her either.

They're way more relaxed. I think it bothers the middle girl the most. Our eldest is SO on to her mother. She told me yesterday that Pinky told a woman at church that she does what I do for a living! I said "are you sure your mom wasn't referring to me?" And my granddaughter said, "no, I'm pretty sure Mommy said SHE does that for a living."

Back in my sons day it was always I lost my bill fold. Can't count the times that has happen. For now it is good here but there is no promise how long it will last.

I caught my daughter so many times in lies in the past few days, she is a compulsive liar anyway. She has been clean for the past year and a half, but lately now i'm wondering, she has new earrings and always has money and smokes even though I know she spent her disability check a week after she got it. Then my gs told me on the weekend when he was staying with her that they went and stayed the night at a hotel with two other guys there and at least one that stopped by the hotel room, needless to say i'm very upset. My poor little boy, I won't be letting her have him for over nights or anywhere but my house from now on. It sucks she was doing so well and he was really enjoying spending weekends with her, sometimes I really hate her.

Nanna, I'm with you there. Pinky was doing very well for nearly two years -- the longest stretch ever. She did have that slip last year, but got right back on track.

I know what happened, too. She met up with an old boyfriend who supposedly hires her to clean houses that he fixes up (he is registered in construction, at least). He took her to the beach for two days. He drinks -- there is NO way she didn't drink with him, which would have started her slide. And she called on his phone -- the one she called her "backup phone." WHAT A LAUGH -- a backup phone! HAHAHAHAHA!

Now that my husband is fully retired he says it's time to readdress the adoption. I'd really like to never see Pinky again, but I know that won't happen.
