This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. I've been reading here about all of the grandmoms with serious health issues, who are valiantly raising multiple grandchildren.
Thanks be to God, I've been blessed with good health. However, I just caught a nasty cold from our youngest, and I realized how hard it is to cope when you're "down and out."
Young children are relentless! They know you're sick, but they don't stop. "Can I have this?" "Can I go out?" "I spilled my milk." "When is snacktime?" "When is lunchtime?" All I wanted to do was to be left alone on the sofa, but I kept having to pop up every five minutes to settle an argument, fetch something, etc. etc. etc.
If a simple cold made life absolute hell for two days, I can't imagine what fibromyalgia, cancer, heart disease, etc. does.
It gave me an appreciation for those who are doing this with really difficult circumstances. I don't know how you do it, but boy, you are the true heroes!!!!!

Sometimes, people ask me how I do this (raising 2 more babies) and I tell them it's easy because it's by the grace of God and one day at a time. They just look at me in amazement.
I've vowed this coming year to make a huge effort to get in better shape physically and eat more healthy. I need to lose some extra weight and just get more active overall. As one of my biggest fears would be if something happened to me, my GC would likely go back to bios.
