There are too many bios who won't take care of their kids. There was a man and his parents who loved and were providing a home for veronica. But her mother adopted her out . Why are bio fathers and grandparents irrelevant when biomoms sell there children ? I have read the case documents. That baby should have been able to stay with her grandparents . The adoptive couple will face a very distraught child

Didn't the father initally agree to the adoption and then changed his mind?

What I mean is, didn't he sign away his parental rights. And when he realized she would be adopted out, he then changed his mind? Apparently, he has another daughter out and is $11k behind on support.

I'm surprised that he even had standing in a lawsuit like that. If he signed away his parental rights, he signed them away. Period. It shouldn't matter where the girl went after that, as far as he was concerned.

I feel horrible for that sweet little girl, her adoptive parents, & now the biological grandparents who have become attached to her only to most likely lose contact with her. From my understanding, he did sign over his rights, but later argued he would not have done so had he known Mom was making an adoption plan. That poor child...........the "system" has failed her, as has her father.

I've heard the adoptive parents have maintain the offer to have an open relationshiop with all bio parents / grandparents. Just sounds like this was more of a mess than it should have been. I pray they will all come to a place that the are able to support and express their love for Veronica.

He did not in fact legally give up his rights , this was ruled by sc courts. However the whole story is here. In Oklahoma u can't give up your rights without going in front of judge. That's the law.

According to the NICWA.org website (National Indian Children Welfare Agency) he did sign papers and then when he realized it was for adoption he reneged.

scgramma, I would be more sympathetic of Dusten Brown's plight, if he didn't owe back child support for another daughter. There's just so many little things in this case that make me take pause with regard to his story. Anyway you look at it, I pray for them all to have peace and come together for the sake of Veronica.

Parent has the right to deny grandparents adoption. However, through Fostering Connections Act, grandparents can seek visitation with adoptive parents. Grandparents need to be more aggressive in seeking their rights. We all assume if we are fair and nice, we will be treated in kind. Ain't so, especially if bio parents are dysfunctional.
