I no longer have hope of change. I haven't for quite a while. I just try to survive.
I am sorry for all of your pain. It is hard to go through.
The kids will open all of their presents, then "Mommy" will personally hand them her gifts with a huge flourish and lots of fussing. Then she spends the rest of the day making sure that her presents are the ones the kids spent most time with, like the most, yada-yada. "Did you love my presents that I gave you? Hmmmmm? Is it your favorite present? Hmmmmm? Didn't Mommy hook youze up? Hmmmmmmm?"
And they're almost always gigantic things that take up a lot of space in the kids' rooms and end up with little pieces all over the floor, under the bed, and in the dog's mouth.
Grrrrrrrr.
My 11 year old GD, has been busy in her room. She know's that hand made presents mean more because they come from the heart.
On my FB, my Niece shared this with me Alex is 8 years old. Alex asked if Santa was real, he said all the kids at school say he is not. Mom, I don't think he is. Why is Santa so important on Christmas, it not his birthday. It is really Jesus birthday. Can we make him a cake and celebrate his birthday on Christmas
I'm teaching my Grandchildren the meaning of Christmas. It's not about the amount of gifts, how exspensive or who they come from. Teaching the Grandchildren the meaning of Christmas puts the GC and you in a better place. This is something no one will ever be able to take away from them or you.
Merry Christmas!
