As you may know, we have our eldest granddaughter in counseling because of cutting. We discovered that one of the biggest triggers was the presence (not absence) of Pinky. Since Pinky stopped coming around, no cutting.

Anyway, Our granddaughter, perhaps using tools the counselor gave her, got up the courage to call Pinky for the first time in months. She told Pinky that she had to call every day for 30 days (the way I required her to do two years ago.). Pinky agreed.

She called the next night - even though she spoke to the kids for about three minutes total.

Last night, she didn't call. Blew it in two days -- and after "her dorter" (as she pronounces it) took months to gain the courage to start talking to her.

It's now 2:00 on Saturday and Pinky still hasn't called. The good news is that our eldest is going to give her an earful. She told me (and I'm SO happy about this) that she has finally figured out that anger is hurting her more than her mother. Even though she's angry, she said it isn't what it once was and she'll be able to tell her "mother" exactly how she feels.

So I guess that's progress. :-)
