It has been 11 weeks since my GD's were locked out of their apartment by their mother. She still has not asked to see or talk to them. I have heard from her step dad that she has been in and out of the hospital at least 3 times since Christmas.
He has been pushing for her to see the girls and I have said a flat out NO. If she wants to see them she will have to file in court for visitation and see them at a visitation center. DAMN this man just does not get it. If this woman is not capable of setting this up she is not capable of seeing the girls. He wants to set it up for her, I had to insist he stick to the DCF recommendation that she has to do it all on her own with no help from any one to prove she is in a state of mind to see them. Could he really not know his deceased wife and his step daughter were/are drug addicts? He seems to think it is all mental.
He seemed surprised when I asked if she was off of the drugs. Since his answer was a bit strange I laid it on the line, NO, I mean is she off the drugs she is addicted too? The ones she has been addicted to the last 20 years since she was 15? The ones she told me she was on even up to 4 weeks ago? The ones she buys on the street? I let him know about the oxy and the cocaine.
I was nice I did not say the ones your deceased wife got her hooked on at the age of 15. Where the hell does this guy think these ladies were getting the pills every time they overdosed or tried to commit suicide?
The girls like to go to church with him but I am going to have to put a stop to that since their Mom is out of the hospital and goes to the same church once in a while. I do not want to take the risk of them seeing her there. He has been told if the girls see her while they are with him I will file for a restraining order to keep her away and he will no longer be allowed visits.
Honestly I think he is trying to hide the fact of the drugs. He is an enabler for her just like he was for his wife.

My husband's cousin has an addicted daughter the same age as Pinky. In fact, they use to do drugs together. Her daughter has never even attempted to get straight and has been in and out of jail. She has ripped off her mother countless times, wrecked her cars, had friends over who ripped off her mother, etc etc.
Her mom buys her new cars, replaces what was stolen and continues to allow her to live with her. She will tell you to this day that her daughter doesn't use drugs -- even when the girl is slurring and half asleep. She sees it. She has to, but her brain just won't let her admit what's going on. I've never seen anything like it my life!
