Well no big surprise that birth mom ( hubby's oldest daughter) is in danger of loosing her younger two kids. It sounds like right now that the boy will go live with his bio dad which is a good thing! Bio dad is a good guy and his mother has moved down to help him with his 3 yr old son.
The problem is what happens to the 22 month old girl??? Bio mom is to give the court a list of family members who could possibly take the little one. I am afraid that hubby and I are on that SHORT list of people.
We are already raising bio mom's oldest daughter who is now 6 years old. We have had her basically since she was 3-4 months old.
I am 55/56 and suffered a Pulmonary Embolism/DVT this past spring. I also have back issues and walk with a cane or a rollator. I have pain in my low back & hips.
Hubby is 50/51 and has asthma, Sleep apnea, HBP,etc and is currently driving a truck making deliveries. He gets up and leaves any time between 12 midnight and 4 am depending on the run. By the time he gets home after making the run and loading the items, he is tired and goes to bed in order to try to get some sleep for the next day.
Neither one of us want to see her go to strangers or up for adoption but not really certain we can physically handle raising a little one that age. Add in the fact that my son has a 6 month old baby girl that we may end up with also!!!
How does one say ENOUGH and not feel guilty??? I am willing to try but since my energy levels are still so low, I am not certain I can handle it. Son's gf is here and would probably help with 22 month old if she keeps the 6 mo old baby.
We have not had any physical contact with the 22 month old since this past Feb/March. I don't know if she really bonded with my hubby or not. I don't feel like she bonded with me that well when I was around her although I did watch her from time to time.
So what would you do in this case???? any suggestions??? I am trying to find out if this would mean adoption or legal guardianship or what of the little one.

There seems to be a list of others who could take the baby - hopefully someone else will do it....
The 6 month old has someone that would help me raise her and that loves her so she would not be that much of an issue.
The two other kids...22 mo girl and 3 yr old boy have been in state custody since May 2012. We had them in kinship care from May 2012 until Feb 2013 when things happened that wasn't the kids fault. They then went into regular foster care.
Hubby and I both agreed today that I can not take on the 22 mo old girl no matter how bad I am willing to try it. I am still trying to recover from the PE/DVT in May. I feel like I should be about 80 years old some days.
We are hoping that all turns out well. We are hoping that birth mom will consider her cousins or possibly my daughter who is interested in getting her. So I guess time will tell.
