Fortunately, my SW did prepare the paperwork and I took my GS to his assessment last week. Thankfully, my GS does not have the issues that your GS is experiencing. I basically went just so that DSS would have it documented.
I can't really give you any info on what to expect, as we won't be needing these services. But I am so happy you finally got him in.
And here I was complaining that I wasn't hearing from the SW enough! Compared to your situation, I am in DSS heaven.
Good luck to you.
I wish you the best!
I just got an email from the case mgr @ regional ctr giving me another program he would be eligilable for. My problem right now is also that when I take off work I don't get paid and I pay for child care myself and when he isn't at daycare one or two days in the week I still have to pay for a full week that is just the way it is. Unless we are off 2 weeks or more I don't pay however; he may loose his place at the daycare.
Try talking to the owner of the daycare and see if she will work with you, it's not because you are just lazy and don't want to get your GC to daycare...This is for medical reason to help the child!
I am very happy that you are finally able to work with these programs for your gs. It's too bad it was delayed so long, but as you say, you need to move forward, not let the past detract from the help you are getting now! Great news!
nutsand bolts, almost all of the daycares in my area work this way as well. Most will only take full 40 hour children, and you pay for 40 hours whether you use it or not. Some will allow 20 or 30 hours, but they are very few. And they will NOT take child extra hours or fewer hours.
That's part of the horrible situation for a single parent out there. Plus, to get daycare paid for you must use a certified daycare, almost all of which require the above, but the program will only pay for hours you work. Go figure. It's a mess! IOW - unless you have a 9-5 job that goes from M-F, you pretty much can figure on paying for daycare out of pocket in my state if you don't have relatives (which many of us gps don't). It's one of my big bandwagons.
