I have the SAME problem with BG... when she was with bio she got lice and they shaved her head... so she is just now getting her hair long enough to fix... so of course she is soooooo tinder headed... the best thing I have found was recommended by my hair dresser...

get a spray bottle fill 3/4 way with warm water add the rest of the way with a good conditioner shake until completely resolved ... not a thin on like suave, white rain a real good thick on... this works for us...

I've used the watered-down conditioner & agree, that works. Also have just put a quarter sized dollup in my hand and worked it through the hair while wet, leave it, and then comb. Also, start combing at the bottom of the hair strands rather than at the scalp, and work your way up to the scalp. Also avoid going to bed with wet hair. Good luck!

Leave in spray conditioner works too.

I know this sounds gross but before they had all these conditioners, my. Grandma used mayonsise to co nditiob hair and the tangles came right out. On my kids I used baby shampoo and their hair was always soft, even without conditioner.

I have the same problem with my lil girl. She has naturally curly hair. I haven't tried the spray bottle + water but just may. What we've used before is the walmart brand (equate I think it's called) detangler. That works well for my lil girl. I have also started to brush her hair from the bottom up while in the shower with her with the conditioner is in her hair. It makes it to where I get the tangles out with ease and she doesn't mutter the word ouch. She is also very tender headed. I've checked with my hair stylist and she said that this is ok to do without damage as long as you aren't pulling on the hair while brushing. She also said to start from the bottom and go up carefully brushing bits at a time and not yanking it. What I do is start from the bottom, while holding her hair and gently brushing with the hair on my hand. That way, I know I am not pulling nor doing it too hard.

My GD has almost waist length hair and it was getting very difficult to manage. She would look like the kid from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome when she got up in the morning. I finally just started using my shampoo and conditioner on her hair and braiding it before she goes to bed. The children's conditioners are pretty worthless for girls with tender heads whose hair tangles easily. We use Pantene. I wash and condition her hair first thing when she gets in the tub and put it up with a clip. I let her play for a bit, rinse out the conditioner and put her hair back up so she can play some more.

My husband is still getting used to the luittle girl hgairdressing thing. When his daughter was little he was not allowed to mess with her hyair. Now he has to get GD ready and to daycare a couple of times a week since my step-daughter moved out. It is sometimes rather comical to see how he does, even when I lay out her clothes before I leave for work. He'll get better with practice though.

When our middle granddaughter consistently failed to get the tangles out, neglected to even brush her hair after a shower, etc. etc. she got one warning: We would cut her long hair.

She called our bluff, and off it came -- she looks adorable and actually likes it shorter (probably because it's easier to keep neat without brushing) HAHAHA.

I live in Montana and yes we can get a bit red neck at times. Thanks for all the ideas:) I posted this on facebook as well and my friend who has horses suggesed cowboy magic for horse manes. I did some research and found it works fabulous for humans as well. So i was off to the store last night (the ranch store) and they never had cowboy magic......BUT they did have Mane and Tail. I bought a huge bottle for 15 bucks. OMG it worked like a charm! her hair is like corn silk now and she even brused her own hair last night.......first time EVER!
