Grandparents Raising Children Support Group
This community is dedicated to grandparents who are the primary caregivers of their grandchildren. In cases where the parents are not willing or able to provide adequate care for their children, grandparents may take on the role of primary caregivers. Join the support group to find support, share your experience, and get advice from other members.
A whole week until the kids go to school and they are off the wall. We are trying really hard to keep them busy and wear them out so they sleep. The oldest has moved to the livingroom at night, she finally falls asleep after hugs and back rubs. The youngest sleeps with the dog.
We have a fair number of students who are living with their grandparents here. There are like 4 or 5 in gd class alone that do. Since I work at the school, the kids all know that I am her grandmother, etc. I don't know that it has ever been a big issue for her since I have also let her teacher know up front what the situation was.
GD is pretty good at being flexible and versatile when it comes to dealing with a group of people. She can usually go with the flow for the most part after the first hour/day. We started school here on Aug. 14. So far so good but the year is still young also!
