Finding a place

I need help finding a long term rehab work base(free) for my 30 year olad daught to go to that deals with mental health issues as well as addiction. Any one know of a place I live in Texas but I will send her any where that is good and at least a year.

i think more rehabs and courts are realizing that addiction and mental health issues go hand in hand. In Arapahoe County here in Denver suburbs of Englewood and Littleton there is the 18th Judicial Mental Health Courts. You can look it up just that way, they have some programs they work with sending women to that have also been involved with the law because of addiction issues. I heard of one that is year long, includes working, therapy, and being accountable. you might contact them....good luck

8legs, please don't take this the wrong way, but your daughter needs to find her own way to rehab. Sometimes that means they have to bottom out first and they realize they truly need help. Other times, they rely on others to get them help, but they don't appreciate it and waste everyone's time.

Pinky has been in at least five rehabs that we know of. We found the first two because she was still a minor. The rest is on her, and we pray that we don't get The Phone Call - but that is the reality if the addict himself/herself doesn't make the decision to get his or her own help. Unless the addict realizes in their very heart and soul that they WANT to recover, nothing -- NOTHING -- we do for them will make a difference.

My husband went to Phoenix House in Wilmer, TX. He was *very* fortunate to get in. I think most of the time people have to be court ordered there but he truly wanted the help, and had a former parole officer go to bat for him. Even with that there was a 6 month wait for a bed, and I had to do a lot of legwork as well. But it is truly an excellent program. Not pleasant at all, but I do believe it can work. I didn't agree with everything they did to the guys there, but it certainly helped my husband. If you can't get her into that one (it's even harder for women to get in, they have very few female beds) just search for a "therapeutic community" program. There is lots of counseling and psych services available, but they REALLY push personal responsibility. If you don't truly want to get clean, you will not make it through a therapeutic community program. So it's a good way to determine how motivated someone is to get and stay sober.
