I'm so tired of this. Bio dad is pretty consistant about visits, has always been. Except that in December of 2010 he went into a recovery progarm. He had grandios dreams, he was working with an orginazation called "black men reclaiming fatherhood", had access to free legal adivse, etc, etc, He's always said that he wants his kids and that they below with him. He thinks it's wrong that they're with us. Whatever, what would be wrong would be for the kids to be with him!! Anyway, his last visit was right before thanksgiving, then he disapearred. Then today out of nowwhere he calls. He's in recovery, it's an awesome program, he's getting his kids back, and he's sorry about "what he's putting them through"!! What the heck? What is he putting them through? They know he's daddy, they love him like an uncle, they've never lived with him, they get excited when they see him in the same way they get excited when they see thier grandparents (my parents, it's what they call them).
Anyway, I'm so tired of the threat of the rug being pulled from under us. Last week it was Surragote, she's talking parenting classes. This week is spearm donor. Enough already. i want to be able to plan a vacation, my life without those two appearing when they feel like to to shake things up. The more i think about it the more convinced I am that working towards adoption would be the best for all involved.
I actually think our chances might be ok, the kids have never lived with the parents, they have never provided for them. Isn't that considered abandoment?

we just filed for adoption for our BG she has been with us this time for over two years... bio mom has only visited once and that was two days after we got her... according to our attorney failure to maintain a relationship with the child is grounds for TPR and adoption... he said usually mean no visits for six months or longer.

Why do bios always act like the children are their property? When we got custody of gs, I kept him very busy in an attempt to get him into a normal life style with structure. He did marshal arts, gymastics, soccer, religious ed and had regular play dates with new friends. We moved to a suburb farther out from city because prices were lower. We found a place with a small pond, woods area (where he and friends had great adventures!) and streets with minimal traffic where he could safely ride his bike. We had deer in the backyard many mornings. It was a time for him to heal from all the bio dad and whacko stepmom did because they were his "parents". Dad started doing no shows for visits. gs was hurt and confused at first but then we started to plan activities "just in case" dad was no show. He began to look forward to what he could do if dad didn't show. My suggestion to you is keep your gc busy building the childhood they deserve. If dad is so intent on being father, let him put up or shut up.

Sounds like a nice place to raise a child, Daisy. I wish I could find something similar! Seems like the government taxes the property so much now with any acreage whatsoever, though. They make it almost impossible for the middle-class to move to such places anymore :0(

I agree put up or shut up! I hate when he tells the boys that they are going to live with him after school it out but he has done nothing...All he does is stress the boys out...they have always lived with Grandma and Grandpa.

My gd's bio also tells her he's going to get them a house to live in together. But bio hasn't worked in over three years and lives at his grandmother's. And he has the parenting abilities of a rock. This IS very confusing and stressful for gd and then she acts out for me and becomes beligerent towards me. More bio drama and selfishness - frankly i think it's quite damaging and abusive for a bio to say such STUPID things to a child.
