When I talk to my son...I tell him "your so lucky that we were able to take the baby" he is always whinning that he is going to classes and so on to have a say so when he goes to court.
I would like to be a mouse in the corner when she has to do all those things and not get fired from her job! With the way the recession is my job is on the chopping block, I do make sure I write down why I am taking off so it doesn't look like I am just taking off but it still makes me stand out...
That's half of what I have issues with - should they ever get custody again, they have no idea what they are getting into, and the stress will just put them over the top again. And who will suffer? The child. The child will have to go through it all again, at best!
I believe in allowing the kids to call us whatever they want, as well. Our three grandchildren went through the "Mom" and "Mom-Mom" stages. When Pinky tried to correct them by saying they only had one mom, I told her (a) people have more than one mom - I call my mother-in-law mom and (b) you do the job, you get the title. She finally realized how silly she sounded and backed off. The kids refer to me as their mom when talking about me to their friends, but they still call me Mom-Mom.
