I will never for the life of me understand how a "mother" can just drop in to see her sick child for all of 5 minutes and state that she will be back shortly. Whatever! My 15 month GS has a stomach flu of some type today. His mom breezes in and out of his life as if he is just another errand she is running today. She promised me she would return to spend some "quality" time with him. Of course that didn't happen. The little guy had eye muscle surgery a month ago. She did show for the surgery but as soon as baby is discharged from hospital she does her disappearing act - for a month???? I am so sick of her lies and broken promises. So sick of it that I texted her a message and told her that I am done with her. Anyone who can ignore her precious little child is not worthy of my time. I have spent entirely too much time waiting, worrying about her. She may be my daughter, and it will be extremely difficult, but I have had it. I am thinking of just cutting all ties with her . If she wants visitation with GS she can arrange it through dept of human services. I am tired of dealing with the stress she adds to our lives. In my opinion it's not fair to GS to have her drop in and out of his life. Ok I'm finished venting and thanks for listening!

A bio can be very immature and self-centred, and it is hard to take, I do sympathise.

I cut off my daughter a year ago and it was the best decision I ever made. I no longer have to be included in the drama that she creates in the lives of everyone around her. You have to do what is best for you and your grandchild. God bless.

I cut my daughter out for 7 months i was sick of her lies and only breezing in and out of her sons life. Now shes back in our lives for 8 months now and is clean been to rehab etc. however it is her mental state that is keeping her immature and unable to think of anyone but herself. I always blamed the drugs for her behaviour but now i realize its her bipolar, this week she went for her physic evaluation and was told she has type 2 bipolar and shes schizo effective, with OCD. Shes so hard to live with and handle just like her father, but i left him years ago, sometimes i wish i'd never let her back into our lives. So in my opinion cutting her out could be a good idea at least until she shapes up if she does. Its exhausting dealing with the bios crap when you have a small child to look after again at our age. My gs has been really sick with the flu and a high fever and my daughter acts like the worried Mom, he pushes her away and wants nothing to do with her, he tells her i just want Nanna. She acts like she doesn't understand this, well i've been raising him for 3 1/2 years, and hes 4 1/2 now, so in his eyes i'm Mom not her. However he will stay with my son thats 19 or his Papa my boyfriend rather then her, i think she annoys him with her phoney consern, it annoys me to no end.

It doesn't take kids long to figure out adults' annoying behavior. Not long ago, my 5 yo GS, whom I'm raising, made the comment that his Aunt, my 22 yo daughter, "ALWAYS has some kind of problem" And he's absolutely RIGHT- she's always got drama of some kind or an illness or injury of some kind and she STRESSES ME OUT!!!!!!!!!! He picks up on it, or gets the brunt of it on days when I have no patience left for his normal 5 yo behavior because my 22 yo daughter is still behaving like she's 14, even though she's 22 and has a child of her own!!!!
