I'm SO happy for you! This should end about 99.99% of the aggravation. I'm also sorry it had to come to this, but God placed these children in your hands, and they'll do so much better than if they'd been split up and placed in foster care.

My husband has always hoped that Pinky would get her life together and get them back, and we both know that she would fight an adoption tooth & nail. I also think one of the fathers could crawl out of the woodwork, too, and we didn't want all of that legal drama. The kids would not be happy with adoption, either, so that sort of settled it :-)

Plus, since they all share our last name, we figured that custody would be enough. It gives us most of the rights of adoptive parents, so we can make all of the decisions for the kids.

Happy for you!!!!! Our journey too is getting close to the end. It has not been an easy ride for us either. It's been quite the challenge that we, as guardians petitioned to have the Mom (our daughter) terminated so that we could adopt. We filed last November and by Aug. she should be terminated at trial after 3 hearings in the last 5 months and I cant even bring myself to add up the attorney totals yet.

Enjoy the moment! Your joy is well deserved. We adopted our Gs. It was the only way we could protect him. It cost us everything though as step mother dragged it all out. It was with it though as it gave our Gs the security he deserved.

Thanks everyone! I'm taking the kids on a road trip vacation to Utah starting this morning. We are heading to the Zoo in Salt Lake city, and that's all we know... Whatever comes between here and there that looks good we will stop and enjoy. We'll be gone for five days, just me and the kids taking an adventure!
