If anything, we're the ones who are keeping the system from becoming 100% overwhelmed. If all of us grannies released our grandchildren at once the social service system would collapse. So they should HONOR us, not look down on us. I could say something mean about the fact that they couldn't have kids of their own, but I won't. LOLOLOL!
Enjoy your meltdown. It means that you're still able to feel for the kids and get frustrated. You will get through it somehow. After all, you have us!!!!! :-) hug-hug
I'm sorry you are so overwhelmed. I know it is scary times if you work for a school district. The 3% pay cut and 7 days of furlough with daycare for the twins prompted me to leave my teaching position for now.
I hope you can find some time for yourself but an occasional melt down is good therapy!
It doesn't help that I'm throwing our Annual Halloween party for my 14 & 12yr olds. We do one every yr that we get over 50 kids with DJ, food and contests. My girl's birthdays are on Xmas & New Years so it has been hard to have a birthday party with their friends so we decided years ago to throw them a big Halloween party instead. It is allot of work and stress and it always seems to fall on a week that is very busy with other commitments. Sure enough I have 3 therapist & SW visiting this week besides my GS's Dr's appt on Friday the day of the party. I could have cancelled this year but my girls get good grades and they have to share my time with my GS who takes up allot of my time and energy.
I think I'll be less stress once this party is over.
Thanks again for your support
Please don't allow that Foster Parent to make you feel uncomfortable at your meetings. They make 1200-1500 per month for fostering children, and they get more if they take in a special needs child! They get free daycare and food stamps, plus free medical for each child they take in. The foster Parents also get respite a few times a month. If you think of it, they're in a business. We are doing this out of love for our GC. Yes the Fosters will look down at us...We our taking their business away from them.
At the party enjoy yourself.... You'll be the hostess with the mostest!
As for your job, there isn't much you can do, that is in the hands of someone higher than you and your husband. Just try to take one day at a time.
Good luck with the party. Parties are always a lot of work, especially for kids their ages, but as you said, your 12 & 14 yo need you, too, and I'm sure they will LOVE having this party.
Keep your chin up!!! Good luck ;-)
